And Memphis wins by 12.  I didn’t watch the game, did Memphis pour it on at the end?  Did Rice go cold?  Did Rice fouling at the end contribute to the wide margin?

The Temple USF finish was funny, Temple got blocked on a short range jumper and the ball went up in the air and then right back into his hands and then he shot it again for the buzzer beater winner.

Michigan State also beat Maryland on a buzzer beater from behind half court.

Blazers slow down that Shocker momentum, beating them IN Wichita.

Just eyeballing the box, what stands out to me is the turnovers.  WS coughed it up 17 times, compared to 9 by UAB, resulting in a 26-13 points-off-TOs advantage for the Blazers.

Wichita did outrebound them

Blazers have Memphis in Birmingham on 3/2.  Memphis could get bitten and lose this one.

I watched most of it...it was a tough watch. Shocker fans have to just be infuriated by their team...I really don't know how much to put on coaching, but guys who look like world-beaters v. Memphis...Cortes, Ballard and Beverly...looked almost incompetent at times.

last night's win secured us a top 4 spot and double-bye in the conference tournament...seems almost certain we'll be either 2 or the 3 seed (we'd have to be perfect and Memphis lose twice to get to #1) and on the same side of the bracket with UAB for the semi-final.

#2 seed draws winner of 7/10...which right now would be Wichita State v. Tulsa
#3 seed draws winner of 6/11...which right now would be FAU v. UTSA

Let's go be perfect.

There's a world out there that exists that Memphis can lose 2 of 3 vs UAB, Utsa, and USF..Let's hope it's this one.

As much as I would like to say we are regular season conf champs,  I would much rather play an evening game for our first tournament game.

A noon game on a Friday feels like it would hurt attendance and our chances at winning.

Thinking of matchups, the one seed plays the 8/9 winner, which involves Temple.

between the Owls and Shockers, I’m not sure which one I’d prefer.

I believe in our ability to shut down Mashburn/Temple, I still have no read on Wichita St. and hope we can avoid playing them.

Does anyone know how a 3 way tie for first would be broken? If we win out and UAB beats Memphis there is a good chance of all three of us sitting at 15-3. We split with UAB and lost to Memphis. UAB split with Memphis and us. Memphis would have split with UAB and beaten us.

Even when we have had the same conference record with UAB, all the standings have listed us before them. Does anyone know what the next tiebreaker is after head-to-head?

It's winning percentage against the highest seed. We have the same winning percentage as UAB against Memphis (0%) and Tulane (100%). So, the next highest seed is 5th which is Florida Atlantic / East Carolina. We've won all our games against those opponents while UAB has split theirs. 100% beats 50%. It's important to note that this tiebreaking scenario is used before the application of other tiebreakers. For example, Florida Atlantic and East Carolina are tied for the 5th conference record. Even though Florida Atlantic would actually be the outright 5th seed today based on their head-to-head win over East Carolina, our winning percentage tiebreaker with UAB is applied before that one.

Everyone confused now? Great.

We likely get the 2nd seed if we win tonight and on Thursday against Charlotte. We will obviously get it if we in all three remaining games. The math is much more simple there. We would play the winner of the 7 / 10 game in the quarterfinals. Our likely opponent in the quarterfinals? Probably between Wichita St / Temple and Tulsa / UTSA.
