Four way tie for first.

Wednesday marks our 6th AAC game.  That will be 1/3 of the way through the conference slate regular season.

Beating Temple would be tremendous, as we are starting to see some separation in the standings between the top teams and everyone else.

After watching several of our opponents play in conference play, we farted around too much as a league in OOC play. We are a much better league than our OOC record suggests. But, as the saying goes... You are what your record says you are.

Unfortunately, i think this is going to be the norm for awhile.  You forget the league as a whole is basically brand new every year as all the top talents is transferring out.  So it takes a few games for all the new faces to gel and become the teams that they are by conference time.

True. But the A10, MWC, and CUSA all have the same issues and are ranked above us in the NET conference rankings. If we want to be considered a competitive 2-bid league, we have to be NET ranked above the aforementioned.

We just have to get to 24 reg season wins and let the chips fall where they may. I think 24 is a good, realistic in-season goal. Then reset and see what we can accomplish in Ft. Worth.

If you watched today's game, Memphis hardly looked in command (IMO) until very late.

They still face UAB (twice), get Temple again at home.  Shockers might be looking for revenge in round 2 after how they let this go.

Tigers are riding a slippery slope to the tournament.

They did the same last season. Seems their guys, even though it's a new group, don't take the AAC seriously. They got the crowd going tonight after that 8-0 run in the 2nd half but they won't get that benefit on the road. It's a long season. You really have to dig deep to get up and play hard every game, especially when the pundits say you're already penciled in to play in March.

It's deeper. I think Penny sucks. He's either elementary between in his ears in scheme/philosophy/sets OR he simply thinks he can roll the ball out and his team just out athlete the in-league competition. Since we have seen them struggle, I have to believe it's the former.

A Temple fan on their forum basically said the same.  He said when they and Memphis play it's "no coach needed" games because of their elite athletes.  But when faced with teams that are organized with defense and set offensive plays they struggle to adjust.  They still just try to out-athlete their opponents.

Memphis is still solid defensively. Just by virtue of their athleticism and length, they can get in lanes and alter shots.  I've read that and I buy it.

Here's another angle on tonight.  Probably not the best game to prove his point, but I always find it interesting to see how a different lens can change how you perceive things.

Since the beginning of the American, there have been 21 opportunities for a championship.  11 regular seasons.  10 conference tournaments.

Tigers has been here since the beginning and won...1.  The 22-23 tournament.
