ECU moves to 7-1 with a blow-out win over North Carolina A&T. Rice lose in OT to Hofstra to fall to 5-2. 

ECU might be pretty solid...4 double-figure scorers, including pre-season all AAC pick RJ Felton at 21ppg.

MTSU beats UAB 76-69. 

MTSU is solid, ranked just above UAB in KenPom heading into this game, but I still don't know what to make of UAB. pre-season pick to win the AAC, now 4-5, and without really a quality win. 

Rice beats Iona to go 2-1 in their tourney...including a win against Arkansas State. 

Minnesota beats Bethune-Cookman (sheesh, thanks)...Oregon State beats UC-Davis

basically heading into December, I think this is a pretty good way to look at the league, KenPom through 12/1 games in ():

Tier 1 - Memphis (31) - I know everyone will be quick to point out their collapse last season...I suppose it could happen again, but this team looks built different. they'll head into December ranked while presumably no one else will even receive a vote. 

Tier 2 - UNT(66) ; Wichita State (88) - both schools have quality wins over Big 10, WCC, A-10 and MVC schools...nothing really to blink at too much in their losses. 

Tier 3A - Rice (164) ; East Carolina (123) - call this the over-achieving tier. Rice has a good win now over ASU...hung tough with Florida State. ECU has yet to play an actual road game and their loss looks pretty mid, but 7-1 is 7-1 so far. 

Tier 3B - FAU (105) ; UAB (137) - call this the under-achieving tier. FAU look like Memphis last season...a solid collection of talent that isn't playing as a team...case in point, they went 52-26 to lose by 2 to FGCU. I don't know what to make of UAB. still, despite early struggles, both these will be tough Ws

Tier 4 - Temple (114) ; South Florida (138) - both just look solid if unremarkable. both have some testers in December and it'd be a big benefit to the conference if they can pick up some good wins.

Tier 5 - Tulane (226) ; Charlotte (204) ; Tulsa (215) ; UTSA (263) - there's very little to like here. nothing approaching a quality win and each with some pretty bad loses. I almost just made a separate tier for UTSA, but I'll be kind for now since the resumes here all look so similar. UTSA goes to Cali to play St. Mary's Tuesday and then to Fayetteville for ranked Arkansas on Saturday (who made their schedule?)...so once they get drubbed by 30 in each, maybe they'll earn their own tier

      I hope we lose to Temple

      This thread has some loser talk that rivals some of the legendary loser-talk threads on this board. I wanted Seth to beat UTSA even if it meant more Seth. I wanted them to win the CUSA title game even if it meant more. Do we want to win or to be right on the internet? I want them to win. I don't like mixing up Seth LIttrell's tenure and Eric Morris'. Morris, the admin, and the roster etc all made a mistake in trying to keep the good from the old and turn what was there into a winning team. Morris said he made that mistake. He had to change the entire roster. That had to wait a year. So we are essentially in year one. I've written a ton that the roster is filled with youth and underclassman. I see a lot of others have made this same point in this thread. It is true. Some of us gave money 15 years ago in the hopes of this or that but that doesn't mean you can turn a handful of freshman into AAC champions. Quinton Hammonds, Brian Nelson, Landon Sides, Wyatt Young, Mercer, even McGill are all contributors. It goes on and on. The dudes making freshman mistakes were well, freshman. The upperclassmen guys we needed to do some leading and carry things? Well Chandler Morris did that and a couple of DLmen, but a lot of others were hurt. Some just didn't produce. The foundations for next year begin in this recruiting cycle. Morris will discuss the signings on Dec 4 -- we'll know if he has some solid incoming guys. We know he can bring in talent. I like that they improved the DL for this season -- it was worse last year -- but they need more. They need more OL, too. They need more playmakers all along the defensive side. I put some of that on the last coaching staff. Seth had missed hard on defense for about 5 years. He rotated through a bunch of dudes with no luck. We had a patchwork defense with which Bennett did the best he could. The defense has been bad. Morris has made a move to change that. Whoever comes in -- I think we'll see a hire fairly quickly these next couple weeks -- will have a summer to find guys to plug in the holes -- DL, Linebacker, rush end. Is that enough? Dunno. Morris will be looking for experienced, play-making WRs I can tell you that. A Damon Ward who doesn't have the yips and can stay on the field.

      NIL alone doesn’t win. I honestly don’t know much about his coaching, but I have to think he’s pretty good. Benching your returning starter QB in favor of a redshirt freshman was a bold move, but it proved to be the correct one.

      Malzahn Quits UCF for FSU OC Job

      My point is you will see more head coaches leave G5 teams for P5 coordinator gigs. In fact, I could see this happening with Morris. It used to be that a G5 head coaching posting would be more valuable to a coach and his family. I believe NIL and the portal has changed this.
