11/16...not a good night for the league...3 tough loses all by 3 points

 - UAB loses to High Point (UNT opponent on 12/6...they're now 4-0) 68-65. Butter Johnson showed up 21 off the bench...looks like he'd been struggling and responded with a reserve role...Lendeborg had 17-15, but UAB didn't have anyone else in double-figures.

- FAU lost on a 3-pt buzzer beater to Charleston 119-116 in double OT. looks like not a lick of defense was played in this game...would've been fun to watch...both teams shot north of 50% from the floor and from three...FAU put six dudes in double figures lead by Louisville transfer Kaleb Green, but got done in by the leading scorer in the country Ante Brzovic who had 39 including the winner

- Temple lost to Boston College 72-69. Temple were down as many as 14 in the first half, took a second half lead, but couldn't hang on. Jamal Mashburn Jr. looks to be a problem, but Temple doesn't seem to have much beyond him.

 - Memphis and USF won games they should have...Tulane lost to a 4-0 Furman.

5 conference games today, the most interesting being FAU having to come right back after a 2OT loss to play 3-0 Liberty.

Minnesota hosts Yale, who already gave 13 ranked Purdue a hell of a game...so their board might be in full meltdown later this evening.

High Point looks to be a real tough (under the radar) test.  We should be prepared for that.

no doubt. I think we could end up with a sneaky tough non-con...though not contributing that will be this current Minnesota team as Yale is currently doing the exact same thing we did

Some are arguing on their board about who's better between Yale and UNT. They really can't get past the UNT loss. I really want to get poporn and make an account just to let them know we've finished higher than MN in NET every year since 2020.

I would really enjoy sweeping the Texas teams this year to confirm our dominance in them in basketball.

hmm...that made me wonder what a Texas college ranking would look like. kinda cool there's actually 25 schools. per KenPom's current ranking:

9. Texas Tech
13. Baylor
15. Texas A&M
24.Texas
61. TCU
68. North Texas
72. SMU

197. Abilene Christian
212. Texas A&M - CC
219. UTEP
227. Rice
235. UT - Rio Grande Valley

Sure wish we could get some of those non power 5 teams on our schedule instead of Wayland Baptist and Texas Wesleyan.

Yes, there are plenty of Div.l programs in Texas alone to make up our OOC schedule.  Get them on the phone....

McNeese goes of to the USVI for Paradise Jam this weekend...first game against Illinois State (should be a win...currently a 3:1 favorite)...would set up a potential 2nd round match-up with UAB or Longwood, both tourney teams last year. KState, George Washington, Louisiana and Liberty round out the field.

some decent teams, but no world beaters. winnable tournament for McNeese.

Would love to visit this again with some retrospect.  Maybe halfway into the AAC schedule, let's look back and see how these OOC teams are doing.  And how it stacks up against other OOC schedules.

when I wrote that I had forgotten Utah State was a possible/likely opponent, but ya, that's definitely something my nerd-brain is already into tracking.

I'll confidently say though that McNeese is our toughest opponent so far. Minnesota struggled in the first half again last night against against Cleveland State, a team that lost by 48 at Michigan and currently sits 195 in KenPom

as mentioned in another thread, three pretty easy wins last night (11/19) for Rice, Tulane and Charlotte. Evansville lost 80-30 to Ohio State. UNI won.

not all, but the most interesting games coming up:

tonight (11/20) - not a ton...Tulsa host UALR (who already blew out UTSA), but if Tulsa is any good should take care of.

11/21 - Memphis @ San Francisco ; FAU v. Oklahoma State (3 day tourney...would play Miami or Drake next) ; Oregon State host Oregon ; Houston Christian v. Rice ; ECU v. Jacksonville State (3 day tourney...would play Toledo or Stetson next)

11/22 - Utah State v. Iowa and St. Louis v. Wichita State (same venue, but not a tourney) ; McNeese v. Illinois State and UAB v. Longwood (same side of bracket) ; Temple v. Florida State ; ECU/FAU game 2 of 3

11/23 - Temple v. UMASS

11/24 - High Point v. Missouri State (3 day tourney...would play ODU or Boston College next)

there will be more games 11/23 and 11/24 as some of these tournaments shake out, but definitely some interesting games starting tomorrow
