Interesting bit of information from the Cal/WF game.  The WF coach did a study going back 20 years and the team coming off a bye week was at a disadvantage in the game following the bye week.  Due to getting out of a routine…at least that’s the thought as to why.

The advantage of the bye is an extra week to prepare for a different kind of offense like the one Army runs.

Yes in this case it is prob quite useful to prepare for a totally different scheme. Or it would be if we had a real DC.

So in our case it is mostly helpful because of all the injuries we have.

I’ve noticed this trend anecdotally for many years now, especially in the McCarney and Littrell eras. Seemed we played worse after a bye. Here’s hoping we’ve overcome that and learned to use bye weeks to our advantage. It makes sense, like others have said, that an Army bye would be much needed.

I didn’t really post this because we had a bye last week, it just kind of worked out that way.  I just thought it was interesting that the assumption that a bye week is advantageous was proven false by 20 years of data according to the WF coach.
