This is a public service announcement from DATCU Stadium where seismic tremors deep below the surface appear to be sending stress signals to the strong goalposts above.

There are reports of Tifos being painted in dorms across campus stating, “Bring Goal Posts Here!”

Friday night camping equipment is apparently being washed and packed in preparation for under the stars campfires.

There is even a report of the Military coming to town.

Be alert. Stay attentive my friends.

In all seriousness, I watched South Carolina roar the field after taking down A&M tonight, and thought, “This is what our fanbase needs.”

SMU had apparently not beaten a ranked team at home in like 60 years or something crazy like that! Meanwhile we are poised to beat our second undefeated top 20 ranked team in a span of a few years and when this happens it needs to be celebrated! Who says cool sports things don’t happen in Denton, freaking Texas!

Goal posts come down, get marched out and get tossed into the pond or placed on the hill like a trophy! 🏆 how instagrammable! Photos for the Maniacs, Talons and Infantry to use to recruit 2025 members and beyond.

I’m all about derailing Army’s quest for the playoffs, because even if Boise loses they ain’t jumping 8 spots and keeping out their Heisman stud running back. Plus we need this win. It’s time to crush another undefeated dream.  Most importantly we need a W.

For those who think this puts too much pressure on the team to deliver a W against a stout team with a rested quarterback. It’s top level football. There are no guarantees but we all need to be prepared.

Talons Up!

I don’t see us storming the field, but a last second score to win would be fun and might just do it. I still remember the 2001 storming after the MTSU win.  It’s memorable.

I think that Villareal quietly encouraged the MTSU event in hopes of increasing student excitement and participation in games.

Is there anyone who posts on this board who participated in storming the field and taking down the Goal Posts?

I was there, but didn’t storm the field.  I was a nervous freshman and didn’t know if I was allowed to.  The other 500?, didn’t seem to mind. Some classmates participated, they told me they took it Lou’s, and he gave out free shots.

Apparently he encouraged it in 2002 after the NMSU game, but I was there in 2001 and it was pretty spontaneous.  That's part of the reason why we didn't know what we were doing and merely turned the goalpost on its side rather than take it down.

I’m not going to storm the field on Army. That’s how Houston caught flack when they booed Navy. The service academies play for more. They are not the team you want to showboat on.

They’re dirty bruh.  I feel what you’re saying but they don’t live up to their own standards.

I’m storming that field, tearing down the goal post, and throwing it in the swamp pond out front of DATCU

During the couple times I helped tear them down in the early 2000’s, we marched them all the way to Fry St.  Those of you wanting to just toss it in the pond outside the stadium really need to think bigger. 🙄

I remember Wings Sports Bar on Fry St even mounted one of the posts up in their rafters. I believe Lou’s did the same if I remember correctly. That was a long time and many beers ago. It was cool to see for a couple days until the school came by to reclaim their stolen property. 😂

I just think the pond deserves a pretty water feature, don't you?

*IF* we had won the last two games and then beat a ranked 6-0 Army team to take the conference lead at 5-0 with 3 relatively easy games to go, I wouldn't tear down the goalposts, but I'd consider going down on the field to be in the middle of all of the fun.

Win and act like you expect to win.

For the players and coaches, yes.
For the student section, nope. They’re kids. Let them make some lifetime memories and rip the goal posts down.

The 18th ranked team is coming to town. These become the stories culture is made of. There are 5 unbeatens left in the country. We get one we celebrate.
