If I could, I would certainly have to give this thread a "vomiting" vote:

Quote

The Mustangs are undefeated in the ACC, and with unbeaten Pitt (7-0, 3-0) coming to Dallas on Saturday, arguably the biggest game in school history has set the stage for the Mustangs' coronation.

"It's not over, so we're not celebrating anything yet, but it's validating," SMU athletic director Rick Hart told CBS Sports. "Maybe vindicating is another word, because we have believed for some time that if given the opportunity we could compete at this level."

SMU hasn't just risen from the ashes -- the Mustangs are galloping across the nation. No school transitioning from a Group of Five conference to a power conference has ever started better than 1-1 in their new league. SMU is 4-0 and in the thick of the ACC championship race.

"Maybe vindicating is another word, because we have believed for some time that if given the opportunity to legally pay for play we could compete at this level."

well, yeah.  duh.

Thought: how funny would it be if Rice decided to finally commit to this game and easily match SMU"s pockets two or three times over?

Seems like some of our posters need Craig James to come by and rub one out for SMU so they can move on with their lives

Even with all that success, there's still plenty of tickets available for the game Saturday.

I don't think Dallas is buying what they are selling.  Plus, the game is only on the ACC Network (limited viewers).

Seriously, delete this nonsense.

Another example where the mods don't care as much about North Texas football as they do about clicks

Rice could certainly compete on NIL, but we are not the biggest payroll even in the ACC.  NIL has helped SMU Jumpstart absolutely, but our upswing started before that with administrative changes to give competitive program support.  That's the real key.  Rice could fund NIL but it wouldn't really fix their issues or really improve them above mediocre.  Boise and UNLV have garbage NIL amd look at them

Agree that NIL is not the total key to football success.   Florida State is 1-7, Stanford and Kansas 2-6, Purdue 1-6, Miss State 1-7.  Those schools have NIL, large NIL.  Other factors could be affecting their records.  Coaching, injuries, hard schedules, etc?   NIL is not a guarantee of wins.

You should really embrace your local P4 team as as a secondary team.  Come on down to SMU vs Pitt.  It's sold out but there still tickets coming onto stubhub with the threat of rain. Top 25 match up.  Amazing Boulevard experience.

Wait, there are still tickets available?  LOL.   I already embrace TCU, a school that earned it's way up, and didn't whore itself out just for temporary gratification.  The "Boulevard Experience" is nothing special.  I've seen it.  It's like any other tailgate, just filled with arrogant douchebags.

In short, you could put a gun to my head, and I still wouldn't support you.

If we were undefeated in a "P4" conference and had the #18 team in the nation coming to DATCU, do you think people would be able to buy tickets for $28 the morning of the game?

We don’t need to see.

Everyone (UNT fans, SMU fans, and everyone else) knows that if we were #18 we would bring an even bigger crowd to Ford Stadium than we normally do and you’d see a legit sellout.  We have always brought a crowd equal or greater than the SMU “fans” crowd

Attendance smack from UNT is always bizarre.

If you brought huge crowds to Ford you'd see that in the attendance records. You don't. UNT at SMU looked very similar to all the other SMU home games. You weren't even our highest attended home opponent last year. Charlotte at SMU was even bigger. Jeesh.
