Thoughts on the Tulane Game

I went in thinking we could match-up well.  I did not realize they were just a bigger, better team.  They are. 
 

however, what I saw was a team that did not give up….there is no quit in this team.   In past seasons, our teams would quit getting down early. 
 

We were in this game at the end….which is what you want to be.  That gives me hope and encouragement.  Tere are a lot on this board that hate on this team…I don’t get it…but be who you are.  Not a problem

 

this team does not quit, and for that, I am proud to support them.  We will win more games this year than the majority predicted.  We were picked 6th I believe.  
 

looking forward to the Army game.  Come on out and support the team.

Despite the obvious frustration, we still had a chance at the end of the game. I’m not as confident as I was a few weeks ago, but I’m cautiously optimistic. GMG!

Look at their OL compared to our DL? Even on TV the difference was surprising.They mentioned on espn Brown was being double teamed!!!

This is our second year in the American. I suspected, hopefully in a year or two we will be able to recruit players with more size and speed as well, then we have to keep them!  GMG!

If only you were allowed to run other defensive formations where, when you face a larger opponent, you did not have to line up three down linemen against their five (sarcasm attended).

I definitely see us heading in the right direction offensively.  I think the defense is a work on progress.  It may never get better since we don’t have a good football NIL.

I refuse to hate on one kid on that team. That have a lot of try in them. I do question/hate on Caponi. Nothing personal, as I don’t know the man, but it is time to move along from the 3-3-5 and give these young men a chance to succeed in a system that gives them a fighting chance.

I hope the fans learn that this team doesn’t give up.  The fans give up and the stadium clears out.   Tying the game in the end of the Tulane game was possible, but not many would have seen it.  Reminds me of all the folks that missed The Drive against UTSA.

I think until they are able to show they can do it consistently, most fans don't trust it. I know for one, I don't. Yeah, it has happened a few times, every squirrel gets a nut, but the more likely scenario is when the defense needs a game winning stop, it doesn't happen. 

Very similar to the Cowboys right now.... 🤔

As I have noted earlier on a post. The announcers praised our team for continuing to fight to the end and not giving up. I am very proud in that aspect we finally have players who fight to the end without quitting. Part of that is due to the coaches.

We don't really care for moral victories around here.    We've won multiple Moral Victory National Championships.   Those are old Denton.

The only time I've actually witnessed a team "quit" was the Portland St. game.   But I've seen way too many beat downs where the team didn't quit.   We're tired of those.

I agree with this assessment. I don't know if the "no quitting" is a Morris culture thing, or if it is a combination of Morris not quitting, and the players that he brought in having that same attitude and/or belief in themselves. Just off the top of my head, the players that really impress me with their "never say die" attitude are C Morris, Porter, Sides, Carnes, Sheffield, and Hammond.   

If the fans ever had a means to be involved in the game besides their random clapping/cheering at big plays, we might have fewer leave early in the game.

I wonder if it is demoralizing to the offense as it is to fans to know our defense will probably let the opponent score again?  

Our offense keeps trying to get the team back in the game, but it’s like they are fighting the opponent’s defense as well as our own defense.

If I was on the offense, I would be proud of what we accomplished. And then, I would be pissed we couldn't do enough. Not satisfied. It is not in their control as to what the defense does.

 

Both sides: do your best, then get better.

Tulane beats us by 8 and Charlotte by 31 and the takeaway is that Charlotte has a better defense than us?
