2) The real shame is that we are describing conference mates this way.

We’re just not on Tulane’s level. Even with the coaching change (great hire), they just kept it rolling.  Army, Memphis, and Tulane are the three best teams in the conference now…they’re all ranked or receiving AP votes. We play all three in consecutive weeks.  This is a tough stretch for us.  No doubt.

20+ years of the same exact thread. maybe...just maybe...UNT football just is what it is.

more than likely this team finishes 8-4 on the heels of a 5-7 season. they'll make a bowl game somewhere. they'll do so with one of the most entertaining offenses and quite possibly the best offensive player in program history.

replace the DC, recruit the hell out of Chandler Morris, DT and about 15 D-1 defensive transfers and this team is a conference title contender.

What’s wrong is that around the time of the Wyoming game, even with the Tech embarrassment, people thought “They’re 2-1, maybe the defense just looked bad against a superior Big XII team.”

Yesterday you saw the result of people realizing “nope, they genuinely cannot tackle and refuse to alter their scheme against what should be comparable talent”

We will not beat Army.  And, no, we won’t beat UTSA in their season Super Bowl.

A sparse crowd will see us beat East Carolina to get to 6 wins…then people will swear the season was “a success” when we beat a horrible Temple squad…then we’ll all come crashing back down when we get rocked in a bowl game.

This sounds eerily familar.....

We were 6 point underdogs to South Alabama in week 1.

Forgot about that one.  Didn't really feel like and upset though, did it?  Actually kind of embarrassing that we went into that game as dogs.  I was thinking more like App St vs Michigan or ULM vs Alabama type of upset.  Maybe the Arkansas game @DeepGreen pointed out.

Same as last year.  Please no one take this as making excuses because I’m not, but two years in a row of 3 games in a row against arguably the top 3 teams in the conference is doing us no favors.

So, who one that game?

Sorry, Decatur beat Jacksboro that night 20-16. Our star RB was put out of the game about the middle of the 4th quarter. It fell to our QB (who later went to NT) to pull a Chandler Morris-like drive using mainly our receivers to score the winning TD. The receiver was juggling the ball as he was backing over the goal line and finally had control as he hit the ground.

Do you guys remember people saying we drew poorly in CUSA because we were playing WKU, MTSU, or Marshall? If we were playing Memphis, Tulane, or USF they said we would get a boost in attendance. Funny how you don't see that anymore.

Only works when you prove yourself competitive with them. Takes a few seasons of sustained success.

We have a Top 20 matchup with Pitt Saturday. Pitt isn't going to have significant fans and nobody in Dallas cares about them. Yet student tickets sold out in 18 minutes and if the weather isn't bad we'll be a sellout or close.

You have to build.

That would validate caution about every single game NT plays. This team, this coaching staff, this fan base should never feel OVERconfident.

Prepare. Execute. Win.

No. They are still a bad team that's been decimated by injuries.

We'll score at will against them. I expect us to win by 2-3 scores.
