In 2022, the event saw a complete sell-out with over 13,000 fans filling the stands...

So... the Super Pit isn't large enough? 🤔

Probably had more to do with parking and hotel issues for visitors.

Not a cool as when we hosted the NCAA in the Super Pit..... but, okay.  Whatever.

Given that TCU is located a couple miles away this reflects very positively on our Athletic Department. UTA is also much closer to the Arena.  I call it a win.

Could have something to do with affiliations with AAC?

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why is not TCU hosting this event? Anyone have a clue? I mean we play no men's sporting events in Ft. Worth that I am aware of.

From Google:

The NCAA selects host schools for the basketball tournament based on several factors, including:
  • Regional ranking: Schools with higher regional rankings are more likely to be selected as hosts
  • Geography: The location of the school in relation to other teams
  • Facilities: The quality of the school's facilities
  • Attendance history: The school's history of attendance
  • Revenue potential: The school's potential for generating revenue
  • Willingness to host: The school's interest in hosting the event
  • Travel costs: The committee may consider schools that are closer to other teams in the pod to reduce travel costs
The NCAA also considers the ability to create a great experience for student-athletes. This includes providing ample lodging, ensuring the location is easy to travel to, and adhering to NCAA principles for safety and respect.

The NCAA selection committees also build the brackets and decide which schools will host each weekend.

I can only assume that our history of attendance pushed UNT to the top.
