Another dude that took the quick payday over the playing time. Hope these guys are being at least somewhat smart with this money. It’s getting sad. And this is just examples from UNT. Someone much more qualified and smarter than me is going to put together the numbers across college football and have a hell of a story.

he did something so egregious that he got kicked off the team and has no chance of returning....you really think he was smart with the initial money he was given?  not a chance in hell

*plot twist* He did something egregious because they didn't give him the NIL he signed up for.

(no info here.  Just a possibility I have considered).

We should keep a graphic showing our players performance here and then their performance when they decided to move on.  Some others might reconsider.  You can't tell me that if Maclin had stayed and replicated, or closely replicated, last season this year that he would not get drafted.  But, considering his total lack of production this year, his pro aspirations are pretty much gone now.

I am guessing the coaching staff has something like this that they use whenever a player discusses transferring. However, I'm sure every player who's going to transfer believes they are the exception.

99% of our players won’t play in the NFL, so why would they care about production over a one or two years of a paycheck?

I feel like any true competitor would look back on the decision with regret.  Yeah, they made some good money, but they missed out on a season or two of playing college football and possibly being in the UNT Hall of Fame.  Plus, though unlikely, their chance of going to the NFL would be better than zero.

At their age, they believe they have a chance. Maclin did if he replicated his junior year. Now?  No chance.   Adaway maybe. No chance now.  Honestly, I think these young men want to play over sitting and collecting a check.

Counterpoint: if these guys were NFL quality, they would be starting at their P4 schools. And if they were, they would have a much better chance at the league than starting here.
