I’m happy for Army, but look at their schedule:

Lehigh 3-2

FAU 2-4

Rice  2-4

Temple  1-5

Tulsa 2-4

UAB 1-5

11-24 with only 4 of those 11 wins against FBS teams.

Can't deny that they're undefeated after 6 games. Can't deny that they've beaten absolutely no one. You play who 's on your schedule though, 5-0 in AAC play first year.

Did you overlook the first part of my post that says, “I’m happy for Army…”?

I was just trying to make an informative post giving facts.  Before I looked at their schedule today I didn’t realize how bad it was, so I figured I’d share.  They’re 6-0, good for them, but there are A LOT of teams who’d be 6-0 with that schedule.  Honestly, I hope they keep winning and are ranked when we play them.

If Boise falls and we can’t derail them, I would love to see Army terrorize a playoff team or 2.

North Texas lurking.

Beat Memphis.

That’s the benefit of being in a league with the service academies. When they’re good, the media LOVES it. To the point of overrating them. Which likely gives us an amazing opportunity in a few weeks. Almost no way Army isn’t undefeated when they arrive in Denton given their schedule. We just have to hold up our end of things.

Army hasn’t played anyone, but they’ve been spanking them!  These aren’t close games. I think they’re going to be tough to beat

And they're doing it with running AND passing.

The way we tackle, I think they'll only pass just to keep the QB from getting bored.

Would be great if we were 7-1 but I'm afraid 6-2 is more likely unless we start playing solid FB for all 4 qtrs in the next 2 games.
Then beat an 8-0 Army team (likely on national TV) and get to 7-2 and we'll be cookin'.

Agreed. Asking us to beat the pair of Memphis and Tulane in back to back weekends is a tall ask and not likely.

Agreed.

Obviously....I want us to beat them. And I would love for us to be the CFP team from the G5....but I think that's a real longshot.

So....if it can't be us....I want it to be an AAC team. And either of the service academies would be easy to root for in the CFP. And them as a 12 seed against a 5 in game 1......would be fun to watch.

Go Mean Green!

It's there, but the track record suggests that winning either of them will be really tough. If things are truly different, we will at least split these two games before we get to Army.

While they both had big leads on us at half time last year.....we came back in both the Tulane game and Memphis game.....to make them close games. We lost to Tulane by 7....and Memphis by 3.

And we're better than we were last year.

You'll flop against Memphis or Army. UNT never fails to miss an opportunity.

We may lose to Memphis, Tulane and Army because they are all good teams. That doesn't mean it is a flop. We will probably be underdogs in all three games. This team is really young and learning on the job. They have beaten teams at or below them talent wise and got crushed by a good Tech team. Realistic expectations for this team are to win 7-8 games and go to a bowl game and win. All of these are obtainable goals that are in front of us. This program lost more players than any other in the country. I'm excited to be 5-1 but understand we have played a weaker schedule. If we can win one of the next three and be competitive in the other two, progress has been made. The University of Houston season has been a flop considering the amount of money they pour into their program.

Are you going to watch our Bowl game since UH will be sitting at home?

We finally benched our incumbent qb who threw a million interceptions over the last 2 years and beat TCU. We may go bowling actually.

If we are sitting at home, we'll dry our tears with our P4 money

Season hasn't been a flop because Fritz has to fix what Applewhite and especially Holgerson destroyed. 4-8 was the expectation this year, but we may exceed that with the qb switch.

Now if we aren't crushing it by Year 3, then you'd be right.
