I feel like Texas landed in an ok place after the breakup. But I get it, I have a kid going to UT soon and I now have to be a split fan

Herman was terrible for Texas and I thought it was a bad hire at the time and vindication is sweet.

The irony is that he seems to be just the type of coach a lot on this board would like to have.  Experience and success are G5 level.  That didn’t help the last two coaches we just beat. (Wilson never had success at the G5 level, but was a P5 head coach).
 

To be clear, I agree with you.  Not a fan of Herman.

This season has been sweet to me. I attended UH during the Herman and Applewhite years. This UNT team is healing old scars. Thank you all so much!

I’m a UH guy and I have no bones to pick with Tom.  He’s a weirdo but I think he’s a great coach.  From a UT persoective pulled the Charlie Strong leftovers out of a shitstorm and if you want to place any blame on things going south look to the boosters as usual.  Texas is a toxic place and Sark is succeeding bc he doesn’t get intimidated by it which is refreshing for them.  Herman is a high anxiety guy, I get that.  But he did good things for Texas.

Herman's offenses were so predictable even I knew what play was coming watching them. That might be Tim Beck's fault. Either way, not only was he sold as god's gift to football to UT, acted like it and when the results didn't pan out, he blamed others.

Is he a serviceable football coach? Obviously. Do I love seeing him knocked down a peg? Every damn time.
