Which is exactly why Caponi is the problem.  He can’t/won’t adjust his scheme.  But Morris is forcing him to play the best 11 guys in hopes “that” is somewhat of an adjustment.

We should have lost the FAU game totally because of the poor defense.  Only a miracle save by the offense prevented it.  Like many of our games this season.  I expect Caponi and his scheme gone at the end of the season, and Morris to bring in someone better as DC.

I would have fired Craponi after last season or the Tech game. I would fire him today. That being said, at least the adjustment was made to go to the 3-4 and have multiple looks instead of just throwing out the 3-3-5 not matter the personnel like last year. Not sure if it was Morris or the DC who made that call. If Morris, I will give him begrudging credit for that.

He certainly deserves to be fired for what transpired last season but I also think he has made a vast improvement over last season.  The issue I have is why are we giving totally unproven DC's a 2-year guaranteed contract in the first place?  That is directly on Jared not anyone else. 🎯

The Firing of Caponi by Dr. Moose:

I would have fired Caponi last October
I would fire him today

I would fire Caponi with a letter
I would fire him today

I would have fired Caponi last November
I would fire him today

I would fire Caponi via Twitter
I would fire him today

I would have fired Caponi last December
I would fire him today

I would have fired Caponi before this season
I would fire him today

I would fire Caponi from a cannon
I would fire him today

I would have fired Caponi last week
I would fire him today

I would fire Caponi forever
I would fire him today

Team is currently bottom 20 in the country in ppg allowed, ypg allowed.

you and I have different definitions of "vastly".

When you're the worst in the country, even a vast improvement doesn't get you to acceptable.  The defense is still awful and another team is going to image.png.e4e6501aa02ec4678df00ef5efa8b6e2.png us before this season is over.

That's a very negative attitude you have there.  Unfortunately, you are probably correct.

I forgot all about SFA, but thanks for reminding me since the defense only gave up 13 points that game.

Defense gave up 10 points to Wyoming.

Defense kept us in the Tulsa game until the offense woke up midway through the 2nd quarter.  14 of Tulsa’s 20 points (and arguably 17 of the 20) came in mop up duty.

So the defense has games where they’ve given up 13, 10, and 6 for all practical purposes and you’re saying the offense had to save those games?

As I said, I’ll give you USA and FAU.  Not giving you Tech because it was a meltdown all the way around.  I could make a good argument that the offense was worse than the defense in Lubbock.

I couldnt agree more with all of this.... scoring first is important in competitive games but it means effectively nothing in retrospect. We won the Tulsa SFA and Wyoming games all with relative ease and got scored on first in all 3. Who cares.

Case in point on that 3rd down play just now. Simply can't tackle.

Yes, there were bad tackles in the game. It happens in all college games once in a while. I think tonight, this was not all about tackling. This has to do with no pressure on the QB. Plain and simple.
