In the second half our defense gave up one touchdown after an interception put FAU on our 10 yard line and one field goal after an 18-yard drive. No other points.

Part of the story of this incredible comeback win is that the defense rose up in the second half from astonishingly bad to almost average. And that was enough, thanks to the Mean Green playing 60 minutes of football when FAU called it quits after 58.

I will give them credit for making adjustments at halftime. But what does it take to not have to wait until halftime to get these adjustments made?

Brett Vito almost got the score prediction right. As much as we like to bash him, he predicted 35-30 UNT. He missed by 6 and 7 respectively. He certainly had FAU getting more than their season average.

I was a touchdown off for each team (I picked 34-24), but it didn’t play out as I expected.

5-1, no matter how ugly.

Good question and inquiring minds want to know.

I questioned for a while why unt and fau would be on espn2. However the weather made it a great game and I'm glad it was in national TV. GMG!

Told my wife, that was awesome to see Morris be like “I’m that MF guy”. It’s the players that did it but Littrell never would’ve instilled that fight. Mediocre even now at UO

So glad to see him step up. Is he eligible to play beyond this year?

Marshall's gotta' be feeling worse than FAU.

They were beating GA Southern 24-3 for most of the game but GS scored 23 in the last half of the 4th, helped by a couple of Marshall turnovers.

Leading 23-3 and 7:22 to go, Stone Earle gave up a safety (intentional grounding) to make it 24-5.  Over the final 7:22, Marshall's drives consisted of a punt, 2 fumbles, and an interception while GA Southern, scored 3 TD's, taking the lead 27-24 with about 1 minute to go.  That's when Earle threw his interception.

It produced a very fast, last minute 180° flip in the winning trend chart.

I believe he has one more year of eligibility? Listed as a junior and would make sense based on how much he played in two of his five seasons so far.

So, what you are saying is that we didn't lose anything by letting Stone Earle walk?

He made ONE throw when the unblocked defensive lineman didn’t get home…I’d still dare him to beat us with his arm ALL. GAME. LONG.

Jennifer Lawrence Oops GIF
i guess technically he didn’t since he threw that INT at the end but wow we made a shitty QB look good for 59 minutes.

Also winning in unfavorable weather, having to make a defensive stand and coming back for a game winning drive. Hopefully, they all can grow from this. It easily could’ve been another Tech-type result, but they fought through it all.

After listening to Morris talk about his defense during the pregame show, it’s pretty obvious he is pleased at how well they have been playing.

Guess this was just the teams we played....

Halftime interview with EM...."we haven't stopped them once, we can't get a third down, we gotta' get a lot better."

Wow, so glad we're getting such great coaching insight for only $900k/yr.

I noticed this too. He was visibly pissed and the fact that he started with the defense means it is the main problem on his mind. He mentioned the offense too but that was more to be PC. Maybe it worked at halftime because they did tighten some.

Wait, you want a successful HC proven to succeed at the G5 level but are also upset they didn't seriously pursue Sanders who is NOT a proven HC at the G5 level? Makes no sense.

Some would consider Tom Herman a proven HC, yet his team is 2-3.

this is what is so frustrating, it takes Caphoni a full half to figure out that the 3-3-5 does not work.

I was watching the formations and noticed the 3-3-5 several times. @aztecskin I know you will probably do an analysis, but did you see them play the same defense as the last two games formation-wise?
