Judge Claudia Wilken had sent both parties back to the drawing board earlier in September, asking that certain language in the settlement be revised before moving forward. At the time, Wilken said she had concerns over key terms of the deal, noting that she was primarily concerned that the deal would require boosters only provide money to athletes for a "valid business purpose."

This appears to be the final piece of the pie so to speak.  If this gets final approval, which the judge seems to think it will now, Athletic Departments and Universities will "pave the way for schools to pay for players."

So, as I read this now, instead of giving money to NIL's who distribute money to players, or in some cases promise to and then don't! It looks like now the athletic departments will be handling this and be monitored by the NCAA.

I am not in love with all this NIL stuff but it does seem like this is a good settlement.  Does it separate the big schools from the rest, of course it does but at least there is some consistency in how  they are setting it up for the future.  It allows us to give money to the AD and let's them and the coaches decide on how it is distributed which they have been doing already.

Make the players employees of the school, take away scholarships and the free room and board, pay them a salary, take out for taxes, and sign legally binding contracts, and institute a fair salary cap across the board.
