I never understood why they didn't make sure to keep "East Texas" in the name.  I knew some people who went there through the time of the name change and they still called it "East Texas State."

Does anyone else wonder where we'd be as a school and athletic program if our name became Texas State in 1989 instead of UNT? I was a student when our name changed and the perception back then was that the Texas legislature and University of Texas would never allow a school to become Texas State.

Well good all my East Texas buddies that went to Blinn for a semester and never stepped foot on the Texas A&M campus finally have a school they can call home.
