Tulsa finished 4-8 last year and we won in their house 35-28 thanks to a big run late from Adaway. I mark this as making significant progress.

Good teams blow out bad teams. If Tulsa is a bad team? Well then maybe we are good team (AAC level). When we travel to FAU and Memphis we'll learn some things.

We allowed 38 to USA, 66 to TTU both on the road. We've allowed 20, 17, 20 to home opponents. Does our defense travel against non-great offenses?

This is a great point. My question is, and you can look at my other post about it, is this a different defense? I sure have seen things in these last 2 games I haven't seen from this defense even last year.

Yeah I mean I've written and podcasted and video'd a lot about this defense and I have been bullish on the progress. I don't think that even when we were in 3-high base we were as bad as last year's squad. I think adjusting to the strength of the team with the 3-4 look is even better. But we could have gone with a 4-3 last year and that wasn't going to change much. Caponi has improved talent at his disposal now.

I've said before that USA and TTU are better offenses than 23 Cal and 23 FIU so I don't like the comparisons between the two. We have shut down SFA, Wyoming, and now Tulsa. In 23 I think these play out much differently and so yes, progress
