Hedlund founded the UNT women's soccer program in 1995 and has been its only head coach. He has led the Mean Green to 16 conference championships and has ha zero losing seasons. Only six coaches in NCAA Women's Soccer history have accomplished 400 victories at one school.

Great achievement yet also noteworthy is that he has the highest percentage of wins.  Very impressive. Particularly when players and coaches are know to switch schools on a regular basis .. which in itself is a shame.   Consistency is nice to see in many ways

Its nice that we have at least one program on auto pilot. Never have to worry about our soccer team. They are a very young team this year and just continue to stack Ws.

This is the best group of "youngsters" we've ever had.  I have never been a huge soccer fan, but enjoy watching these young ladies.  Freshman Claire Niedermeier had a hat trick and made it look easy.  Team looked really good.

Lose to East Carolina 3-0

Of course, bet that 2 days off was not enough time.

Outshot ECU 14-6

ECU only beat Temple 2-1

Very disappointing

Not sure what happened against ECU, but the article states we had multiple travel delays. Sounded like excuse making by Hedlund, which disappointed me.

Interesting we have gone 0-2-1 since Hedlund and the program reached 400 victories. Those were opponents we went 2-0-1 last season.

Four more games left in the regular season. Two home games I don't think we will win (South Florida and #16 Memphis) and two road games we should win, Charlotte and UAB.

Soccer lost to USF 2-1, now sit in 5th place in Conference

Pretty good game.  I would guess we controlled the match for the most part.  The big difference I see is that too many times we wait for the ball to be in perfect position to take a shot instead of just letting it go.  The  young lady from USF that scored their two goals just turned and shot on her first goal and then misdirected the ball on her second goal much like hockey players misdirect a puck on net.

Sunday night snoozefest as usual by Hedlund when playing a ranked team, goes into prevent defense, only took 4 shots on goal and needed a late save to preserve a 0-0 tie.

But hey AD gets to brag UNT got their 1st pt in 7 years against a ranked opponent.

Sorry to say we need a new coach……

No need to apologize!

We have only seven wins with one game left in the regular season. None of those against UTSA, Rice, ACU, or TAMU Commerce. Those programs used to never be competitive with us.

Aaaaaand season over after a 1-0 loss to South Florida. 0-4-4 after winning the program's 400th win. Have no idea about his contract but hopefully Hedlund steps aside after 30 years and 400 wins. He has peaked.

I wouldn't mind hanging onto Hedlund until we see a home-run replacement.  If that means one more year or so, it's okay.

Who would a “home-run replacement” be?  I don’t know a thing about college soccer coaches.   What about Milosevic the assistant?  He’s been a success everywhere. I kind of wondered if he was hired as a “coach in waiting”. I dunno, but would love to hear from our posters that know more about this.
