I feel like a couple of y'all are yelling at each other, but arguing about different things.

Some are talking about the overall LOUDNESS of the sound.
Some of y'all are talking about the style/music of choice.

That's why I said your point was valid.

I don't have much experience with live sound, I'm pretty familiar with RF signals and I think I mistakenly took your statement about "mitigating frequencies" to mean external RF frequencies and not tuning the processed baseband signals.  Similarly, I interpreted your point about not having the "highest quality equipment" to mean quality of sound reproduction, i.e. "concert quality", not simply the quality of the equipment to simply work.

But as I and others have said, the people running this have YEARS of experience in working with live sound (or at least they should), since they've supposedly been addressing it for nearly 15 years.  So, it's either that they don't care about fixing it or there is some unique situation that is making it difficult to address.  That's why I brought up the point regarding the only things that I could think of that are unique to our environment.

Yes I was referring to just the quality of the equipment itself. I guess my question is have they brought in/do they employ professional audio engineers that can troubleshoot and fix issues? There's wifi, radio broadcasts, tv broadcast, tens of thousands of people with cellphones crammed into a small space, any of those things could be a factor. Is there someone actively running the equipment while the game is going on? It's hard to know without seeing what their game day preparation is.

I think that's the frustration we're all trying to express.  Given that we haven't heard much regarding any progress in resolving the issue or even acknowledging it, it makes it seem like they don't care.

Well… people did a good job of killing the fun and the environment real fast. Students love to show up hearing crickets at a sporting event…. Well done running the next generation of fan off…

We need the DJ hyping everyone up.

This!!! East side North! West side Texas!
Then go!

I don't see why we can't get a uniform time and method to the North...Texas chant.

After every NT score, after the band plays the fight song.  Make it uniform.

Did students come to the game and then leave, or did they just not show up?

I didn't notice any feedback on the ref mics tonight.

I have to admit. Yes, the PA was very good tonight. Sounded great.

Along with the team, I have to give kudos to the audio team too! 👏

But didn't the band sound great playing Mr Brightside!!... a "hype" song that came out before many of our students were born.

It sucked when it came out, and the hold that it has over people 20+ years later drives me bananas.  Why our band plays it either demonstrates they have bad taste in music, or don't care to learn anything more contemporary and less awful to play during games.

Didn’t show up.  We noticed early on that it looked like Tulsa was going to have more students in the stand than NT.

I honestly don’t mind what songs the band plays, but it definitely should be balanced and nothing beats loud get pumped music over the speakers. The players get into and the students get into it. That’s what matters. It really sets a great environment. Especially if we ever add more boards/speakers and some green lighting around the stands.

There's a distinct difference between loud and ear bleeding painful. There's a middle ground to be found, but I don't think the PA changes ran off the 100 students who showed up. Nor did it impact performance

It didn’t impact the performance; however it is going to get the team and fans going more than a band. It’s the e same reason why basketball added a DJ when’s students preferred this to a pep band. It’s the new sports I guess.

Audio was much improved last night.  I didn't detect any less "loud get pumped music".  The sound was just better and not ear-bleed loud.

Also, crowd size was impacted by home game fatigue.  Your not going to get the same 25,000 people to show up 3 of 4 weeks.

First paragraph = 👍

Second paragraph = 👎

Where were the students/maniacs?

Where were the Greeks?

Where was the effort by the AD to sell this out?

Lame excuse. Put forth the effort.

Both the audio and band play numerous songs that were out 20 years before the students were born and surprisingly, they sing along to many of them.  I'm still shocked whenever they recognize and get into a song from the 80s.  But that was THE BEST DECADE!

As it pertains to some of these things I know that the game-production staff (including broadcast) had some trouble retaining people. Post-pandemic there was a loss of experienced people running things. They spent some money and tried to get good people to replace them.

My guess on all of this is that there simply isn't enough money to hire fully experienced people at all levels.

You can't exactly rock out to Taylor Swift or the weekend at a football game. 80s will always be iconic for sports
