Memphis, USF, UTSA, and Tulane all reject PAC-6, will remain in the AAC

Well….I have a different opinion on this one. I think the PAC-12 would be a better conference for North Texas than the AAC.

Essentially, the Pac12 is “the best of” the current Mountain West teams + Washington State & Oregon State. Better brand with more recognized teams than AAC.

Boise State Broncos, Washington State Cougars, Oregon State Beavers, Colorado State Rams, San Diego State Aztecs, Fresno State Bulldogs, Utah State Aggies.

We are grading our own homework here on this thread! lol. Y’all really think the AAC is the better conference, or just don’t want to watch games that kickoff at 9-10pm CST?

I really hope the AAC Commish is talking with both Air Force and UNLV....

Pac-12 realignment talks: UNLV (and Air Force) reconsiders decision amid chaotic day, per report

"A later report from Thamel stated Air Force may not be locked into the Mountain West either. They are expected to be in contact with UNLV and the two programs may wind up making their decision together. Both wanted eight teams to be in the MWC but Utah State’s decision changed things.

“Source: Expect Air Force and UNLV to be in close contact about the future,” Thamel said via X. “Air Force and UNLV were both lock step when they signed MOUs to commit to the Mountain West today. With those not valid because all eight schools didn’t commit, expect UNLV and AFA to be in close touch.”

I believe every school in the conference is tweeting a version of this out.

If so, that’s a much better optic.

Ehhhh...Im not convinced UTSA had anymore of a conversation with PAC6 than NT did. Did I miss the announcement?

Obviously we don’t know who talked to who about what. But the national perception was that UTSA was a candidate and we were not. And that’s a pathetic indictment of our athletic program. That’s why I reacted strongly to our “commitment” post. Saying we were committed to the conference without any (perception of) another option would be silly.

The PAC is shaping up to be a decent basketball conference...

However the AAC is in better media markets, and there are quite a few regional rivalries, and it makes sense for other sports.

Speaking of basketball, I saw a Tulane fan account on twitter say the AAC is a terrible basketball conference. The arrogance of these "top" schools is wild to see. Buddy, maybe it would be better if y'all could manage more than 5 wins in conference play.

Keeping Tulane, Memphis and USF in the AAC was a big win for our new commissioner Tim Pernetti.   I don't include UTSA because they were never officially invited.

Whether UTSA was invited or not the one thing for certain is they won the PR battle hands down and has been able to elevate the perception (warranted or not) of its football program, its athletic department and school across the sporting world.  They are running circles around UNT leadership who seem to just be sitting on their thumbs.  SMH.
