What is the board's opinion about where North Texas stands in this round? Just wondering what y'all are thinking.

While I like Army and Navy as competition, we NEED to be playing Memphis and Tulane and being in that conversation.  There's no world where them going to the PACx and us staying in the AAC is a good thing.

"Get Texas State, ULL, MUTS, and Georgia State"

Sounds like a CUSA re-do.  I'll pass.

Oh trust me, I don't think its great, either...but I think that's what the AAC will do, as its very easy.

My opinion?  I think the PAC2 is a joke and using the money they have right now to dazzle and distract others into joining them, but they have zero revenue to replace the millions they are dangling in front of the likes of NutsaCK, Memphis and Tulane.  It doesn't make sense, to me, for us to be in a conference with Boise, SDSU, etc.  The American needs to be proactive and go after Air Force and Texas St.

Agreed. AFA gets us a 3 academies and TSU keeps up in the San Antonio market. The Wildcats are about as close to SA as UNT is to DFW.

Honestly, all my worry and hand wringing isn't going to do a thing.  I will cheer for us because we are North Texas wherever we go.  I hate the constant movement, the greed that has taken over the sport, the inability to watch a young man develop over 4 or 5 years and everything else college football has become.  I now cheer for the name on the front of the  jersey.

I heard we originally didn’t want to go and then UTSA git involved and now we are changing our mind somewhat.

I’ll be honest, I was a bit  hurt when I saw Tulane and (gulp) UTSA leaving us behind.  I don’t like the notion of being in a west coast league but I don’t want to miss the show either.

Just curious: was this from external sources or internal UNT sources who have first hand knowledge?

Especially if UTSA leaves us behind, too. Texas State would be the natural program to backfill with but if that somehow doesn't happen, that leaves us with Rice and Tulsa as our closest regional rivals.

However, it would be hilarious if those teams do bolt and no lucrative media deal comes to fruition for the PAC.

I wouldn't go for San Antonio for the sake of going for San Antonio.

I'd look for a program that has a longer string of success than Texas State. Outside of the past two years, they haven't been relevant.

Don't let recency bias fog the goggles.
