Last time I started one of these, we got a new HC. Since it's pretty much a guarantee we get a new DC next year, who do you want it to be? I personally want us to go after someone that uses a four man front. The 3-3-5 just doesn't work for the players we have. I would go get someone from the old Phil Bennett staff like a Jim Gush. He's currently the DC at Incarnate Word. We seemed to play better in the 4-2-5.

Someone who runs a 4 man front. Get a map, pin DATCU. Tie a 4 inch string around the pin. Attach a pencil to the other side of the string. Draw a circumferential parameter around DATCU. Go grab a HS DC within that circle and he would do a better job than what we're witnessing as an interim to finish the season.

So, do we want staffers from P4 programs like what we did with Caphony or an experienced DC…even from a smaller school?

Experienced. Always go for experienced (at the college level). If you can get both then do that. Wonder if we can get a recently failed HC as a DC. The power programs do it. You can be a great coordinator and a terrible HC.

What’s coach O (formerly of LSU) doing nowadays? Charlie Strong still around?

Question is, would a DC for a G5 program be more attractive than being a HC for a D-II program? I wonder how much he makes at SFA?

I would feel safe saying it's not nearly as much as we're paying Caponi. The biggest issue in a case like this would probably be whether someone wants to go from being a head coach to a coordinator.

It’s exactly what Morris did and we hired him…
