Mosley: Fire Morris or leave as well

There is emotionally charged knee jerking to a degree.  At the end of the year , if we are less than 7-5 and not in a bowl game then you look at the head coach.  If 7-5 or better then the head coach makes his own decisions based on assistant coaches’ performance.  It’s very possible we are 4-1 in 2 weeks

Morris fielded a top 10 offense last year.

The defense was atrocious, though.

Fire Caponi today and give Morris a few specific requirements for a new DC.

Someone posted that Caponi is the highest paid G5 assistant, so there’s no reason we can’t get a proven DC from the Sun Belt who at least fields a middle of the pack defense. Even a middle of the pack defense paired with a top 10 offense would be a successful team overall.

It is in no way, shape, or form possible that this team and this defense is 4-1 in two weeks 😆

Not sure it is a knee jerk reaction. What has morris done to keep his job at this point?

He secured a 5 year, multi million dollar contract.  That's what he's done to keep his job.   Without a mega donor willing to cut a check, getting rid of him isn't in the realm of possibility.

We can and should boot caponi though.  Should have done it last year.  I haven't witnessed a more inept defense since Mendoza graced us with his services.

It’s not a knee jerk. We’re watching historically bad defense for the 2nd year in a row - like Ron Mendoza bad. That’s on Morris. Many of us have seen this movie before. Hard pass.

I saw enough after two games last season. We didn't even fire the worst DC in the country after the season was over. Now we HIGHLY embarrass the University of North Texas with this pathetic display on national TV and I want no more excuses. Fire this coaching staff and get serious - stop wasting money and resources on people who are horrible at their jobs. Enough is enough.

2-1…. Chill a tad. Defensive Coordinator could go and then see where we are at. We get blown out at home against Wyoming and we can revisit this.

Do we have to buy them out?  Why not just pretend they have had a season-ended injury or reassign them so they can’t do any more damage?  Next man up.  Let Cobbs take the HC reigns and anyone, really anyone, else take over defensive duties.  Can it really get any worse?
