After 30 years of never having a losing season this program should have developed a strong following. It hasn't.
The "close friends and family only" attendance they receive shows that this is not the minor oversight that you mention, but more indicative of the soccer culture at our university.
While teams at other schools are lined up singing their alma mater with their fans, our team wanders to the far sideline, aloofly removing their cleats and checking their text messages. They show that they owe their supporters nothing and are getting the same in return.
Careful bud, I floated the Witten to UNT idea last year and got lit up for it. Funny, since my post, Jason Witten won a state championship, coach of the year, and is currently 10-1 with Liberty Christian poised to make another run at the championship.
