I hope you are right. If something was going to happen I would have thought it would have by now.

In fairness, those numbers were only "with less than 27 months' notice."  If the PAC schools are willing to be patient and play the long game, it could be a different story.

Take notes, PAC leadership.

It was low attendance, but still 20k. You know that pic was not during game time. Don’t know why people keep doing that.

Because it isn't that serious and it's ok to enjoy innocent banter even if it's at one's own expense. Spend enough time on here and you'll notice we all mock our football program at times.

Don't know about you but the weather is nice where I am. I'll probably enjoy some more football and grill some burgers for the family. Regardless of how you spend your day, these posts won't hurt you. Have a nice day!

Those are some big numbers.

There's no way UTSA could swing that, even if they wanted to.

With no media deal in hand, the PAC will be lucky to pull anyone out of the AAC.

They'd have to sell their cannon to help pay for that fee...

One thing I disagree with is if Memphis and Tulane go that the American would only add Air Force to replace them. I still would expect the American to add additional schools from the Midwest or east. I just do not see how they can sit back and not attempt to put together teams that can challenge the top teams from the new pac

Wow PAC12 is desperate!

Just announced UNLV staying in MWC, Utah State to PAC 7. I am assuming Nevada/ Reno and SJSU staying in MWC which gives each conference 7 football programs. Looks like both may need to dip into 1AA programs. i doubt the PAC 7 would take UTEP or NMSU but the MWC might take one or both .

Well now that USU is moving to the PAC, UNLV is rethinking its commitment to the MWC because they were told the Aggies were staying as well. I don't know how that affects the AFA but this is really turning into a cluster f--k.

The new PAC-12 is not desperate. They have the best of the mountain west & they won’t dip into the FCS schools. They’ll find schools that can solidify the conference & will take-on credible programs.

Current status: Boise State Broncos, Colorado State Rams, Washington State Cougars, Oregon State Beavers, San Diego State Aztecs, Fresno State Bulldogs, Utah State Aggies.

The MWC would be crazy not to go after UTEP and NMSU. The crazy would be if the gave UNM any leverage in trying to stop it.

The Mountain West will cash that check & stay together, but will bring in teams like: UTEP, NMSU, Texas State…etc.

I don't see Texas State making the move but you never know. Depending on the next few days you might see a MWC and CUSA merger

Reports this morning [taken with a grain of salt ] are that both the AFA and UNLV are staying in the MWC. In this report it said that UNLV athletic department was $20 million in debt to the university and could afford a move to the PAC  .Hawaii is not a full member so doesn't count against the 8 schools required to remain a conference, which I was not aware of. A slam dunk should be the inclusion of UTEP and NMSU to get to 8 , and unless New Mexico can find another 2 schools to save the conference any opposition from them should be a mute point. However, both the Miners and Aggies have signed away their media grant of rights to CUSA which will need to be addressed. The MWC threw a lot of their PAC money at both AFA and UNLV to convince them to stay[ reported $10 to $15 million each] so they can afford to extract UTEP and NMS from CUSA.

I think a very easy way for the MWC to get one more full member is to allow Hawai'i to move the rest of it's programs from the Big West to the MWC. Back when the fiasco of the WAC trying to destroy the MWC turned out the other way, the MWC would only take Hawai'i football and not the other sports because no one wanted the cost of flying those teams to Hawai'i every year. That cost is a LOT less than some of the numbers being kicked around for a completely new member!

Yes, the MWC would still need one more school but one more is a lot easier to find than two. Plus, the MWC is more likely to get a better quality school if they only need one more.

Sac State announced today that they are building a new 25,000 seat stadium in hopes of attracting an invitation from the PAC 7 or MWC. At present they play in the Big Sky Conference and have won the last 3 football championships. According to pod casters Sacramento represents the 20th largest media market. As a 1AA program they must pay $5 million to move up.

They were in the FCS semis a few years ago....and I think beat GJ Kinne's Incarnate Word team.

They have FBS aspirations as you noted. I don't think the Dakota schools (SD, SDSU, ND, NDSU), Montana State, Montana and Idaho.....have FBS aspirations. Idaho tried it once. Interestingly....if you look at the FCS top 20 poll.....all seven of those schools.....are in top 9. (including the top 5 spots).

Besides a new stadium moving up means about 22 more football scholarships plus NIL. Also reference was made to the need of a new basketball arena as well.
