Totally agree. Flew under the radar a bit due to Morris and Ward both having explosive performances. He did a great job stepping up yesterday, plugging in seamlessly. Very impressed.

I don't remember him even having a bad snap. (and you saw how much players were sweating y'day....would have been really easy to have some). Dave and Hank commented on how bad (high) some of the snaps were for Lopez, the USA quarterback.

The o line played very well!  Chandler had time to go through his progressions. I’ll need to rewatch to see about our run game. Overall, great game one!

Great game by the O line. It does seem their pass blocking is a little ahead of their run blocking at this time.

I do believe one of the most used phrases of the night was "another high snap" when commenting about South Alabama.

When we hired Coach (Spencer) Leftwich's son to be our O line coach......I was hoping for the best. If he was as good as his Dad.....that would be awesome. But, he was awfully young....and not very experienced.

But man........what a debut. Without his best lineman (Gabe Blair)....and loses another great lineman (Jett Duncan) early in the game. We had a true freshman (Tyler Mercer) who played probably 90% of that game at center....y'day.

So kudos to Coach Leftwich ....what a debut.

Cutter Leftwich

I couldn’t agree more.

The other thing that was terribly impressive about young Mr. Mercer was the fact that the C usually makes all the calls/adjustments for the line. Incredible performance in his first college game.
