WARD JR Shoutout on ESPN

You could have used one with the same colors.  I agree that the one you posted looks nothing like ours.

A partial wing that begins at the facemask and extends kind of up and back.  We just have a different definition of similar I guess.

Oregon: Six feathers, all roughly the same length (top two may be a little shorter), different shape and position on the helmet.

North Texas: Nine feathers, starting on the bottom, they include the tail feathers and wings, different shape and varying lengths.

The color of the helmet doesn't change the design of the wings.

I said we have different definitions of similar, but maybe similar is the wrong word.  I think both helmets come from the same concept…oversized wings on the helmet.  I realize that ours is clearly an enlarged SOW.  I just don’t think anyone would have ever had the idea to enlarge the SOW and put it on the helmet if Oregon hadn’t had their’s first.

You realize Oregon is far from the first to use a “winged” helmet? And the SOW was around about a decade before Oregon first used their “winged” helmet?

What’s your point? The SOW has been a logo since the early/mid 2000s (not sure on exact year).
My point is, it’s hard to say we copied Oregon by using our logo that’s at least 5 years older than their random feather pattern.

We have a horrible helmet logo design.  No one other than committed UNT fans would be able to pick it out of a line up.  Oregon can get away with whatever it wants because, well, it's Oregon.  We can't.  We're forced to do some enlarged wing/tail feathers thing because SOW doesn't fit well on the side of a football helmet.

UTSA has done a really nice job with their Roadrunner head.  Perfect aspect ratio for a helmet.

Maybe if we put 940 on it somewhere along with the "Parallelogram of Pain".
