First correct answer.  Sorry for the delay, but I didn't get home until late last night and didn't log on.

Mr. Parker also served on our BOR.

How in the world is/was our Denton pipeline so bad after having an alumni serve as their AD and football coach? I always just assumed it was because we overlooked and ignored local talent and never built those bridges.  This makes me question if something or someone burned them.

He also told an interesting story. This was in the 90s as I recall. He was our campus liason down in Austin. And would travel down there every day. And back home at night. But as I recall....the school had him an executive apartment in Austin. Anyway....he told about talking to an attractive young woman (in the elevator or parking lot). Said she was very friendly.

Walt found out later....the woman was Sharon Stone. (back when she was at her smoke show finest).

He graduated college in 1940.  His professional career had to be over by the mid-80s.  Was our pipeline to Denton crappy back then?  Or are you just remembering the past 20 years or so?

I'm opening this up with sincere questions, not trying to be cynical.  Did we ever have a pipeline, and it just dried up?

Walt was a State Representative for a long time.  He was head coach at Denton High for a time and then opened Denton Sports and Toy Center on N Elm Street where Sky Guitars is now located.  He ref’ed a Super Bowl game and finished his NFL official career grading on the field officials from the press box.  He also built a lot of houses in Denton.  I grew up with his son.

Per Chatgpt.... I like to cheat if I can. But apparently he never played at North Texas. Rest assured... A.I. isn't coming for your jobs yet! (Still trying to see if it can get it. Up to attempt #5!)

Lifer, I certainly have been wrong many times.  If there is a Walt Anderson, I’m not familiar with him.  I do know the Parker house was behind my parent’s house 2 houses east and I do know there is a University street names Walt Parker.  I’ll win that hat back.   J

You are 100% correct.  There is a Walt Parker.  Never heard of Walt Anderson.
