UNT announced the football captains for the 2024 season. Solid group of men! Any surprises to y’all?

As an outsider looking in, I'm somewhat surprised by Landon Peterson.  A first year one-and-done transfer, when we have longtimers like Jett Duncan?  Not doubting that he deserves it, just somewhat surprised.

Some guys shy away from wanting to be leaders or vocal to teammates.  Not sure that was the case here but the article about Chandler Morris mentioned how he, being a new guy, didn't want to assume a leadership role but guys pushed him into it, especially being the QB.   He said they were very accepting of him from the start.

2 thoughts:

1- Don’t players vote on the captains? If so, he must be making a good impression.

2- I feel like this is going to be more and more common in the “new CFB” world.

Calling the captain choices a “mistake” right now is quite an overreaction lol. These guys earned that C and we should support them

FWIW this year wasn’t player picked, it was Coach Morris picked.
