Chance to see the program that has won more conference titles than any other sport play two SEC teams at home this weekend! A lot of new faces for the Mean Green with more than half the roster being underclassmen!

OU- Thursday 7pm: Very athletic, size, speed and coming off of a 1-0 win last week beating the #6 ranked team in the nation Nebraska.

Alabama- Saturday 7pm: Just two years ago Alabama reached the final four in the NCAA Tournament, last year finished 4th in the SEC! Still a solid core with great transfer additions including two that came over from UNC! Alabama comes in ranked nationally top 20 preseason poll!

Should be two great games and a great early test for a very young but talented Mean Green team! Exciting!

This will be a great test!

First half thoughts: we continue to play passive against bigger name schools. Down 1-0 and no serious shot attempts.

They announced a current soccer stadium record 1,216 in attendance, and an all-time soccer record of 647 students.

Lot's of new pieces on this team.  I thought we looked better than last year where we seemed to just rely on the long ball.  It should be interesting to see how this team develops.  This will be a true test of Hedlund's coaching skill as we can no longer just get by on having better players.

Couple of crows shots from the record attendance. Maniacs and athletic department did a great job of implementing the game into First Flight Week programming. A lot of pomp and circumstances with the dance team, cheerleaders, and flag runners in action, too. Maniacs and students were loud and chanting all 90 minutes.

Curious if this much effort will continue into this weekend against Bama, who lost 3-0 to TCU last night.

Tie the game up with 11 minutes left just to give the game right back before the PA guy can even announce our goal. Life of a North Texas fan.

Same thing happened last year against SMU.

Soccer will be fine, just going through some early season growing pains with a young team! The three P4 teams we have played- Colorado, OU and Alabama all were tight games and could have easily been draws! Also the home crowd/fan support has been incredible! GMG

We whiffed at four attempts to clear the ball out of the box. Then again, this team is really young but has some serious speed, something we seemed to lack the last few years. I think we are going to be fine. Just some growing pains.

I've said it every time I have watched our soccer team play, we don't move the ball around and instead kick it forward hoping our strikers can either outrun multiple defenders and beat them to a bouncing ball or pull the ball out of the air and control it while facing multiple defenders.

And Alabama won that game for one reason...they played aggressive defense while we stood back and gave Alabama time to think on the ball.

Injury bug also hit in Game 1:

So Hedlund already has an excuse for another sub-par season, if team misses Conference Tournament again

I’m sure the reporter asked about the two players that went down in the OU game and JH confirmed they were both ACL’s. I feel for the players!

Actually not the game I saw, I thought UNT definitely had the better of play and scoring chances especially in the second half! Overall shots were 13-13 but we had seven shots on goal to #20 Alabama’s two! Watching the game maybe a tie would have been fair but I thought we were better and should have beaten Bama 3 or 4-2! The late goal by #14 the All-American was definitely gut wrenching but I was proud of the way we played Alabama that tight! I also thought as I was leaving the game upset on the tough loss what other sport do we have here that can play Alabama and OU that close, neck and neck and to the end?

My standard isn’t “play OU and Alabama neck and neck”, it’s beating those teams because we don’t play like we’re just happy to be on the same pitch

Again 7 really good shots on goal to Alabama’s 2 is impressive! Give the Alabama GK credit saving two 1 on 1’s as well which includes Wesco’s big save!

I didn't get that feeling at all.
