I might add that two FBS conferences have recently imploded (the PAC 12 and MWC). One thing they have in common......TV games in the Pacific and Mountain time zones. So go west....at your own peril.
Horace Greeley was full of sh*t.
Well if that’s the case we definitely will get an invite because of our market. But to me the true power holders are Memphis and Tulane. I don’t see them dying to go west. UTSA and UNT could be had. But if Memphis and Tulane don’t budge then the AAC remains an equal to the PAC.
At present the AAC is the strongest non P4 league. Could our new commish pull a fast one and consolidate the eastern, central west and Rocky Mountain time zone players to remain the strongest league? Go get App JMU Texas State Coastal Liberty Air Force UNLV Nevada and New Mexico.
You don’t come to this leadership position to finish second.
GMG
All the leverage? They have no leverage. They don't have a complete conference and no TV deal. They're asking any other school to take a blind leap of faith. Why should Memphis, Tulane, etc. do that when they can poach the MWC and remain in the best G5 league without the headaches of moving conferences and cross country travel?
The NV political mess seems why UNLV wasn't announced last week. It gives the AAC a chance to kill the PAC 12's hopes of becoming the premier G5 league before it even gets off the ground. Taking UNLV, Nevada, and Air Force would keep the AAC together and severely limit what the Pac 12 can do to expand.
