Imagine for a moment you’re the head of IT security for a company. Your only job is to defend your company from malicious attackers.
One day last year, you goofed, and an email phishing scam breached your defenses and wreaked havoc on your company. To add insult to injury, before the day was over, you allowed the exact same phishing scam to breach your defenses for a second and then a third time.
Now imagine somehow keeping your job after that debacle, only to then allow the same damn phishing attack to hit you three more times the following year... in a single day!
How do you still have a job come Monday morning?
Folks, this is amateur hour. DC Caponi has to go.
It takes a 3/4 vote to dissolve the MWC if I remember off the top of my head. You would need the schools to vote on this, and once you declare that you are leaving you no longer have voting rights on conference matters. If the conference still exists when they exit, the will be paying whatever they owe even if just a couple of teams remain.
This is a pep rally statement from the AAC today, doesn't really say anything. It's the kind of thing you say while watching the sharks circle your drifting boat...
"The AAC released a statement Monday night saying the league "is a pioneering brand, firmly grounded in grit and hard work, with powerful and prestigious member institutions. In the past five months, we have prioritized seizing every opportunity that enhances value for our member institutions and student-athletes."

And I expect the AD to take the pros and cons and weigh what's best.
What I am predicting here is if the PAC can't lure Memphis/Tulane the contract is not going to be near the numbers being thrown around. Maybe $6-$8m, if I had to guess. We have to remember that the west is very sparsely populated and the big city centers are all in the B1G, ACC and Big12 (LA, Seattle, SLC, Phoenix, Denver, SF) without the central time zone teams what kind of deal can they get? Can the media partner offer the same level of coverage and exposure of ESPN? What will the travel expenses be? I'm not saying don't take a look at what's offered, but you have to run the numbers and see what makes sense, and that's going to be up to the AD to decide. Personally I find it a high hurdle to clear if they can't lure the top of the AAC as a block.
