Hopefully the men's schedule for the entire season will get released next week.

The schedule is out on the website.

That's not complete. That's the games they do have scheduled....but it's not the final one.

Didn’t realize that. Thanks for the heads up.

I disagree. It looks bad now, it should have been done weeks ago.

Agreed. And what I'm afraid of....we wait this long and the rest of the schedule is finalized with games against NAIA and Division II teams.

We were the very last team in Division I to finish our schedule last year....and will be that (or close to it) this year.

The McNeese State coach is Will Wade. Got fired at LSU for recruiting violations.....when that was still a thing.

He went to McNeese....and a lot of big money LSU fans went with him. McNeese now has lots of NIL money...and that helped them win 30 games last season.

So with Wade's reputation, and them being flush with cash.....I won't be shocked if they buy out the return game.

I highly doubt they have any interest in not returning the game.

Look at their conference. They were good last year. Better than UNT. There is no way that UNT would have the upper hand in home and home negotiations.

Agree, and if that is the case the hammer needs to come down on the scheduling. If you are going to make us play NAIA and Div. II teams, there is no reason to be waiting until mid October to get it done.

According to a friend.....Central Michigan just released their schedule......and now for the second year in a row....we are the last Division I team to release a schedule.

So if everyone else's has been released....if that's correct....there will be no other Division I games on our schedule....when it comes out.

Pathetic.

Cue the excuse makers to come on here and say..."What do you expect Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina to come here?"

When the OOC b-ball attendance is piss poor......it's because the schedule sucks.

Several mid-major programs are having to play 29 games this year. I could see us announcing two NAIA/DII home games and confirming the schedule at 29 games. That would be worst-case scenario.

Medium-case scenario: last few games are taking a long time because we are signing home-and-home deals for future seasons. Has anyone checked the last 50 or so of the 353 already-announced D1 schedules to see if we are on some random America East or MEAC team's slate?

Fantasy world scenario: we are negotiating with a 29-game program to reopen their scheduling and play us on November 9th, the same weekend as the Army game.

Seriously though... San Diego State has: (a) 29 games, (b) no games between November 7th-11th, and (c) no road nonconference games.

Can we finally acknowledge this is a huge problem as well as the poor quality of the schedule?

It's especially aggravating for season ticket holders. (I assume you are one....since you're so interested in it, being finalized).  We don't even know how many games we paid for.....or when some will even be....

Its extremely frustrating but I would not call it poor quality. McNeese and High Point were both voted first in their conference preseason polls. Northern Iowa picked 2nd. You also have Minnesota and Oregon State. We have an opportunity to put together a hell of a resume before conference even begins.

Unfortunately I live 1,500 miles away or I would be a season ticket holder. I'm just a big fan of our Mean Green, and we need to stop the excuses about getting teams to play us. It also reflects very poorly on the department, how can we be a serious school if we allow this type of thing to happen year after year?

I should have clarified that I was speaking about the home schedule, of those you mentioned only Oregon St. is at home. Evansville, Miss. Valley, and Houston Christian with all due respect all finished at the bottom of their conferences. Is it really that hard to get the likes of LA Tech, or NMSU here for a game?

Yeah....they play at ULL on the 18th....so Dec. 20 is a pretty good guess.

So an App State fan filled me in on Twitter. They had an opening because a "neutral-site" game in downtown Asheville against UNC Asheville was postponed to 2025-26 due to Helene. I would take an educated guess that we'll also schedule Asheville, but maybe on the road. Alabama and Tennessee State are Asheville's closest road opponents to us but a game in Asheville would fit nicely on something like December 11th, we would just extend our High Point trip. UNC Asheville went 22-12 last year, finishing 2nd behind High Point in the Big South.

If we manage to make it another series, that would continue our headstart on the 2025 nonconference schedule with 2 home games and 2 road games.

That would be even better than my medium-case scenario from a few days ago because App State and UNC Asheville are quality opponents.

Then, I'd guess we'd schedule a random D2/NAIA school at home for December 16th, when we were originally supposed to play Evansville. That'd put us at 30 games, 15 at home, and only one non-D1 opponent, which would be better than last year's schedule.

There's got to be some ill feelings involved. One party (or both) is trying to separate themselves from the other. I'm convinced the same is happening with UTA. Maybe it is us? Maybe the AD is trying to avoid playing former CUSA rivals to separate ourselves from the "lesser" league. Or maybe it's just the schools in CUSA are pissy we left.

Ah I gotcha. Agreed.

At the end of the day, gotta have willing parties. Balancing act with scheduling home and homes vs buy games I’m sure.  Feels like we’re trying to level up our opponent quality and some of them just have no interest in coming to Denton.

It's hard to know without having the first hand details, but I can only guess if we have no problem playing Houston Christian I don't think we'd have a problem playing those schools. There's no shortage of mid-tier schools in the MWC, A-10, MAC, or MVC to pull from. UTA seems to have gotten tired of getting beat every year, so that I do see as them not wanting to continue the series.
