So, that puts us about #93 in the real world?

No, the real world is that we are ranked 23rd against our legitimate peers, not NFL-lite programs with tens of millions more in revenues.

Maybe. Probably 5 absolutely terrible p4 that we would legitimately compete with. For good measure, 91st?

Yeah... the fastest way to complete irrelevance.

Where is this from? This has to be athletic program ranking and not simply football because if this were just football we are ranked outrageously high as is Texas State.

SMU isn't making much more than teams in the American I'm told. Are they your peer?

UTSA is too low. We are Too high until I see wins.

UTSA should be top 5. Coaching matters.

We need a proven accomplishment year to move into the top 20.

We are already there, The CFB media admits they spend 95% of their time and coverage on the Power Teams, who pay their bills.

Nobody is stopping you from dropping down to FCS.

If this is an athletic program ranking then Texas State's ranking is even more ridiculous.

 You first....

"The Cougars finished 4-8 (2-7) in 2023, their inaugural season in the Big 12 after leaving the American Athletic Conference."

BTW....Your AD just got fired tonight, lol.

You act as if the semantics of saying we “still play in the same division of football as the SEC and Big 10” makes a difference.    We are no more, or less, irrelevant if we finally face reality and break away to play with our actual peers.

If we broke away, we would never play for a national championship…and if we stay where we are, we will NEVER play for a national championship.

Why can’t we just do a separate league like the LIV did with golf though?  Seems like breaking off and refusing to play the power schools makes sense.

No.  Schools, players, and fans always want to play the best, even if odds are against them.  When we were in 1-AA and played at Texas in 1988 it was the highlight game of the season.   Same for most P5 games on our schedules.   You want to see your program compete with the big dogs.

With the big dogs having greater access to NIL money the separation between "haves" and "have nots"will become even greater. However we will continue to schedule each other as they need a "W" and we need at least one money game. Regarding Texas State, they ranked higher because they have a much better team As you know we passed on hiring their new coach last year. On another note I saw Trey Smith AAC podcast where he discussed the PAC 2 possibility thinking outside the box and reaching out to UTSA, Tulane, USF, and Memphis as possible new members. I give this less than a zero chance of happening but once again we are shaded by UTSA who has admittedly done an excellent job in building a football program while UNT continues to struggle.

If you look at my post history, I've been talking about how he needed to be gone long ago.

Nobody told him to give that buffoon Dana that stupid extension, keep the baseball coach for no reason among other things.

In the Pre- apocalyptic world all G5 and bottom feeder P4s should be considered about equal. Every year will be a rebuild year with too many unknowns to rank teams before several games into the season.

How could they predict any team.   Half our team hasn't played together before.  Probably similar to the others as well.

All predictions are made on what is known by the predictor at the time.  The predictions are much more difficult to be accurate due to the massive squad changes for most teams.
