Signed with Troy to the old staff (now at Tulane). Entered the portal after the staff left. He's a local kid that played well at Kilgore JC. This could be a sneaky good addition.

He had 9.5 sacks and 35 tackles last year at Kilgore. Looks like he had 19 offers coming out of Kilgore (FCS and G5 schools).

The DL should be much improved this fall.

The only question mark is what cooled off the new staff at Troy?

It could be a million things.  He may not have gelled with the system they were running.  He may not have liked being so far from home.  Troy may have had a stud at the position that was going to keep Burns from starting.  As long as we're not talking about serious legal or character issues, I'm fine with it if he can improve our quality at the position.

Wait!  Are we now saying that a kid that went to Kilgore JC (right in our backyard) ended up committing to Troy, we had a shot at him, but now he's going to New Mexico State?  Did I read this correctly?

If so, we suck!!!!

The word “commitment” truly means nothing anymore.

Let's teach them to use something different.  Seems appropriate in today's world.  Some ideas:

"All glory to God, I am taking my talents to UNT.  #ThisPlaceForNow"
"I am 110% halfway-in to NMSU."
"Thank you Happy Valley!  110% #HereUntilTheNextPlaceTalksMeOuttaThis"

Perhaps the staff cooled off on him at NT?

I think if you spend the time and money to do a big public welcome and graphics etc.  it is a pretty big indicator that you wanted the kid.  If they did change their mind on him so late in the process shame on them.  Either scenario is disappointing.  That’s why I follow basketball recruiting much closer.

Yep, that post on “X” probably took all day and cost a fortune.
