Update 9/9: UNT Allotment Sold Out, Infantry Discount Available Till Thursday 3pm - Mean Green Invasion of Lubbock

Recommended Posts

UPDATE 9/9: According to the athletics website, tickets are no longer on sale/available in our allotted sections for the Tech game - so those who worry my efforts hurt our ticket office's sales can rest easy! Meanwhile, my TTU sales rep has informed me that they typically do not sell group tickets the day before the game - so if you're still needing tickets and want to guarantee sitting with other UNT fans, get your requests in by Thursday at 3 p.m. Our group is up to 57!

EDIT: With the end of softball season comes the look-ahead to the 2024-25 academic/athletic year. The 2024 football season will feature the first game of a (planned) home-and-home with Texas Tech on Saturday, September 14th in Lubbock.

If you're interested in joining our group, staying together with other Mean Green fans at the same hotel, and other weekend group activities, please fill out this interest form to help me out: https://forms.gle/TBUiDfBsrH5bQTT16

Group tickets will range from $27.50-$37.50 with no extra fees in the two sections (117/118) we're starting from and group tickets are already available for purchase. I just need at least 20 commitments to get the group discount.

Just a reminder of the type of "takeovers" we had on only 1-2 weeks notice earlier this year:

Original message: Your fellow group organizer here! Who all for sure is going to make the trek up to Lubbock for the 9/14 game at Tech? I'm still awaiting RFPs for hotel discounts, but wanted to go ahead and buy the initial group of 20 tickets needed to get the group discount within this week or next.

The red ($27.50) and gold ($37.50) areas are the only sections opened up to group sales. We're looking at 117 and 118 to start out with. Let me know if you're interested and would be willing to get your tickets now. Trying to do it early before the group gets too split up.

Love what you are doing, but would it be worth checking with our AD to see how they are doing tickets for this game?  Do they get credit or earn some revenue based off of what they sell?  Just curious.

I have checked with the AD a couple of months ago when basketball season was still in session. I was told they make a very slim margin on tickets. Plus like most opposing venues, the visiting team (and band) are given isolated sections in the corners. For Tech, they're giving our AD tickets in Sections 110 and 111, which is weird considering our team will be on the east sideline.

I think they don't want opposing colors to be on the TV side.

Thanks.  Again, I appreciate what you are doing and will be in for some tickets to that game for sure since I live out here in no man's land.

Love how it says "UNT Section".  You can bet it will be the worst one in the house.

Based on the seating plan below and what I could find on their website, our section could be any of the Light Blue.

From my conversation with the ticket rep, the "UNT Section" is 110-111, which is weird considering our bench is on the opposite sideline.

Group discounts are limited to the purple, light blue and green areas. I was probably aiming for Sections 117-118. But 119, and the gold areas in 118 and 120 are not available for group sales.

Love this.  I’m taking my 2 boys out there and we are going with their granddad(ex-wife’s stepdad)who is a tech alum.  His company is a sponsor so we are supposed to get field access.  I told him that I’m wearing green, but I’ll get 1/2 and 1/2 shirts for my boys.  Lol

so keep an eye out for a in fan on the tech sideline.  I hope we show up so everyone on the sideline doesn’t just feel sorry for me.  Lol

Just FYI, as someone who grew up in the Lubbock area, there’s not really a bad seat in the house. It’s honestly a really fun place to see a game. Definitely get there early and take in their pregame. It’s a good show. Also, their fans are typically very hospitable as long as you’re not a Longhorn or Aggie.

Edit to add:  Be ready to dodge a few tortillas flying through the air.

I love sitting with my fellow Mean Green, but I hate sitting in 💩 upper-deck seats at sporting events.  How much of an ass are TTech people going to be if I pick something in the section behind our bench?

I'll never forget being one of a dozen UNT fans at a UNT at UAB game in the old UAB stadium and having a UAB fan who wanted to fight me for clapping after a few favorable UNT plays.  He must have forgotten that he wasn't at Alabama and that Tuscaloosa was a few more exits down the interstate.

Hmmm, then a whole generation of fans must have died out since the last (and only) time I was there for a game in 1985. They were the worst fans my wife and I ever encountered. And that includes the OU flatland hillbilly fans.
