Game One:

Good start.  Ladies are up early on WSU, 2-0, in he bottom of the third.  Currently we have bases loaded and 2 outs with Ibarra at the plate.  We just chased their starting pitcher.

Wichita St with a wind aided HR in the top of the 5th to make it 2-1.  Waggoner is pitching a heck of a game, but we need a few runs to pad the lead.

Somebody explain how the runner that was hit with the batted ball was called safe?  These umpires are horrible.

Nice walk off win in the 9th....4-3....on a homer by Molly Rainey.

All three homers today by seniors....Molly, Kailey Gamble (tied it at 3 in the 7th)...and Kalei Christensen....with a solo blast for our first run.

Skylar gets the win....in relief of Mackenzie Wagoner.

Great win.....game two coming up soon.

Great wins tonight. As of right now....no definitive time yet for the final game. I had heard 10 am Saturday.....but that's not listed anywhere.

I hope not at this point. Too late to announce 10 am Saturday now. I wouldn't be surprised to see us wait till Sunday. Looked like rain all day tomorrow.

10:30am Saturday at The Lace.

Damn, really late notice if they want a good crowd on hand for the last home game of the season.

If the weather really looks fine when I wake up, I'm gonna try to go.

WSU pitcher in the second game was crazy. She was a strike away from being perfect through five innings, and had struck out at least 11/14 batters up to that point. Meanwhile the Shockers had runners in scoring position pretty much every inning but couldn't give her the run support she deserved and then she finally cracked.

Three really nice touches for Senior Weekend

1) All ten senior players numbers in big white letters on the field. 5 of them in foul territory going from home plate up to 3rd.....the other five going from home plate up to 1st.

2) Having moms and dads of the seniors all throw out "ceremonial" first pitches......to their kiddos.

3) And honoring WSU's 8 or so seniors....by having our players present them all with one white rose and one yellow rose. (their team colors).....very classy.

Agreed. But I can understand them trying to get this game in today. If they do it....WSU can get home a day early....instead of having to stay around.

Will try to make it too....won't be there at the start though. Go Mean Green!!!

I missed the first inning but good to see Childers back in and getting some momentum. She retired the first eight batters she faced, striking out five or six but then unfortunately walked the bases loaded with two outs. After a wild pitch scored one, #29 for the Shockers hit her 18th homer of the year to put WSU up 4-0 on only 1 hit.

The same freshman pitcher for the Shockers that was perfect through 4.2 last night started today and had a no-hitter through 4.2 again. Unfortunately this time she did not break. Wagoner had the last four innings and pitched well until WSU got some insurance runs off of her in the 7th.

I hope Childers can get back in a rhythm. Gonna be tough to go to Charlotte with 1st place still on the line with only two reliable pitchers.

Another thing I noticed this weekend was that Kalei seems to be a little slow going after those wild pitches. Obviously the first run of the day scored on that. We didn't even get a throwback to contest. I wonder if she's hurt. Backup catcher Moffitt was in a sling this weekend, I wonder what happened to her. I don't know if we have a third catcher on staff.

Charlotte and FAU both won today, so they're 17-6 and we're 17-7. Would be nice if USF and UAB did us a favor and won tomorrow so we'd be tied for first heading into the final weekend. Seems UAB wins when we need them to lose, and vice versa. I just want a top two seed so we only have to win two games to take the conference title. I'm really tempted to go ahead and request Friday the 10th off so I can head up to Wichita.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow.....we need to win 2 of 3 in Charlotte....right?

As to backup catcher Moffitt......in our last game at Memphis....she tripped over first base....and fell on her wrist. I'm guessing it's a sprained wrist. As to backup catcher....I don't think we have one. But they used Olguin to warm up people in the bullpen. And remember on Kalei....she had to catch 16 innings last night.....and today's game was early. So might just be gassed.

Go Mean Green!!!

Yes, win 2 of 3 in Charlotte and should be at least Top 2. If we do that and there's a three-way tie for first at 19-8, I'd imagine we'd take the top spot because we'd be 4-2 vs. the field, FAU 3-3, and Charlotte 2-4 in that hypothetical.

Game 4: No. 10 Memphis vs No. 3 North Texas - 7 p.m. (ESPN+)

Thursday, May 9 - Second Round
Game 5: Winner WSU/USF vs Winner Tulsa/UTSA - 12 p.m. (ESPN+)
Game 6: Winner UAB/ECU vs Winner Memphis/UNT - 2:30 p.m. (ESPN+)

Friday, May 10 - Semifinals
