He seems like he has experience across several college sports entities and media networks.
Very glad it’s not Judy!

Joining the BIG 10 nearly bankrupted the Rutgers athletic department. If memory serves they had to borrow several hundred million dollars from both Rutgers University and the Big 10 in order to upgrade their athletic facilities to meet conference standards. It's been a while but at one point some if not all of the payout they should of received as a Big 10 member was held back and applied against their loan. The University broke their own rule against loaning money to individual departments but changed it in order to bail out their Athletic Department. Hopefully he is closer in ability  to the Big 12 commissioner than the PAC 12's.

Just read the actual lines of the article. You don't even have to read between them...last two years at the high school level...quit his job at Rutgers because of a scandal...

"I am fired up to work alongside our board, conference staff, athletics directors and coaches as we continue to transform the AAC into a bold collegiate conference enterprise that promotes world-class academic and athletic opportunities for our student-athletes through innovative resources, brand partnerships and emerging opportunities, blah blah blah..."

Extensive work at ESPN/ABC and CBs, got Rutgers into the B1G, and most importantly:

Quote

He will join the conference after a series of roles working for IMG, the leading sports marketing and branding firm. From 2015-19, he was the president of IMG College, a branch of the company dealing with building sponsorships and sales for universities.

The AAC needs someone to sell it and create sponsorships to continue to raise its profile. This guy looks like he knows how to get that done.

For those worried about the Rutgers scandal:

Quote

Pernetti resigned from his role as Rutgers athletic director after a scandal involving player abuse by former men's basketball coach Mike Rice in 2015. A leaked video showed Rice throwing basketballs at members of his team in practice, kicking players and using  homophobic slurs. Pernetti opted to suspend and fine Rice, but was later forced to fire Rice after public backlash. Pernetti was forced to resign one day later.

Seems like he should have fired the basketball coach instead of suspending him. He wasn't involved in the incident.

Yes, similar deal to Wren's at WVU with their basketball coach.

Is this a serious concern? He's the president of IMG Academy. That's not just some high school level program.
