What we have right now is a game without rules. Games without rules are not fun. All of this player movement is bad for the game. College sports need fans. It is hard for fans to get emotionally invested in these teams when your favorite player ditches your favorite team to go play for someone else over and over again. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out: whether the NCAA can get an anti-trust exemption and put things back similar to how they were before or if the student-athletes get made employees who bargain collectively. And how is all of this going to impact the non-revenue sports? What a mess.

What trend is that?ย  Is one person a trend?ย  Are you insinuating that there will be more to follow soon?

Look who lost last year to KSU. The trend you have a player that has a strong year he will be gone. We will be the scouting combine for the P5โ€™s.

Agree.ย  It's like trying to herd cats now!

That works.ย  ย Toss out their free education, books, meals, dorm and medical and let them pay for it with their NIL, like real employees have to.ย ย

Well the university would need to pay them like employees , which would entitle them to employee benefits. The NIL has nothing to do with it. Their remuneration could be is the form of a salary or additional benefits such as tuition, meals, and housing, which would be assigned a monetary value. They also would be entitled to Workman's Compensation so if they were injured they could file a claim. This new world is a real can of worms but eventually will work itself out although we might not like the ending.

That is the way it is headed, with some college athletes already granted the right to unionize.ย  There is push also to have any athletic NIL distribution be handled by a player's school, vs third-party donor group.ย  I imagine any formal "employee" designation will lead to having a value attached to any education expenses, to make it part of a compensation package.

You know it's the off season when a portal transfer thread dissolves into a NIL discussion.

Bro you are on the FC Dallas and Arlington Renegades train right now!ย

I was just trying to clarify what trend you were referencing.ย  The one above, or the potential start of a trend of players from our current roster entering the portal.ย  Thanks for clearing that up.

Our All-American, Player of the Year, soon to be NBA draft pick Point Guard got injured while we were winning our Sweet 16 game.

Youre talking smack about things people that several of you knew that DIED without ever seeing anything remotely close at UNT despite being fans for decades. Instead of going back and forth with you, it's easier to call you stupid.

I sorta feel bad for Houston given the injury.ย  However, Tennessee was missing one of their best players tonight and still beat a Creighton team that I expected to beat a fully healthy UT squad.

And for UNT basketball, March hasn't happened in almost a decade.

Even if you mean the NCAA Tournament, we beat Purdue back in 2021.ย  Three years isn't even close to a decade.

A Championship Run - University of North Texas Athletics

Nobody cares about 69th place. It didn't help your attendance nor did it land any 4 or 5 star recruitsย
