Roadrunner Family:

I am excited to share with you that we have named Austin Claunch the seventh head coach in UTSA men’s basketball history.

Austin, currently an assistant coach at Alabama, had great success in five years as the head coach at Nicholls, including 90 wins and a pair of Southland Conference Championships. Austin’s hometown is Houston and we are so excited to welcome him back home to the Lone Star State.

Austin has high energy, a relentless work ethic and a strong basketball IQ. But what really stood out to me is that, when we talked to people about Austin, what kept coming up time and again was his unique ability to connect with people from all backgrounds and build great relationships.

Austin is completely aligned with my vision and our values as a department and as an institution. He will be a terrific leader of our student-athletes. I am confident that Austin will elevate our program to new heights.

Austin will continue to coach the Crimson Tide through their NCAA Tournament run and will join us in San Antonio once Alabama’s season has concluded. We will formally welcome Austin at a public event at that time where you will have an opportunity to meet him.

Please join me in welcoming Austin as the head coach of the UTSA men’s basketball program.

We are playing LSU tomorrow to open the NIT and this thread is at the top or our basketball forum?  Move this to the "who gives a sh#$" forum.

incredible hire

As pathetic as UTSA's basketball program has been, this guy has a solid resume.  Solid enough to make me wonder why he took that job instead of waiting for something decent to come along.
