Cotton, Vice And Mason
I would also like to see Vice and Mason get more minutes. They looked good in the limited action I saw them. Senior privilege minutes for Sissoko and Stone are at the expense of better players. -

The Band
I know this isn't the most important topic, but I was curious as to what others thought. I live across the country so I can't attend games unfortunately, but from watching it on TV is it just me or has the band declined in quality in the last few years? When the camera shows them they look undisciplined/inattentive, some are just wandering around chatting. I see other bands together and ready to play as soon as a play is over. The size seems to have ballooned and now sprawls across 2 sections of the stands, and despite that they sound worse. The director also doesn't seem to know that the purpose of the band is to hype up the team/crowd, and put pressure on the opposing team on 3rd downs. Play something intimidating on 3rd down! When they do play it seems like they just have a bank of songs they go through in order without considering the situation on the field. The selection of music is bad, and it doesn't seem like they have any variety of songs to connect with the crowd, many bands will play classic and modern hits to get the crowd into things. Like I said I don't know if this is true or not since I can only judge on what I see on broadcasts, what's the in-game experience like? -

What is this program missing?
I think if you did the G5 national championship thing....and the players only got the schollie and a stipend.......I think it would draw fans like crazy. I think there are loads of folks who want amateur athletics to stay amateur. With what we draw and get in donations.....there is no way we should be paying a football coach over $1m. No way. So yeah amateur athletics, tighten the budget. These coaching staffs are huge now. Do folks not know that we now have a bigger recruiting staff.....than Hayden Fry had for an entire staff. He had six assistants. And it was better, more imaginative football. But this will likely never happen. As all these schools think they're just a break away from the "big time." -

How 'Bout Some Blame For The BOR?
This. Unless/until the BOR and Administration decide to "...make winning at revenue sports a priority", we will only have the occasional good season more or less by accident. -

We all know you hate baseball. If you make a dollar selling a ticket, it's revenue, and a revenue sport. Profit is different. Few college sports make a profit for an Athletic Department at the G5 level. Baseball (as opposed to golf, swimming, track, etc) would lure fans to campus in the spring, spur donations, as well as tickets and merchandise. It's not always about making money (profit)...it's keeping relationships with fans and alums year-round. Non-revenue sports aren't doing it.
