There are a lot of people who have said for years you can't win anything at UNT and you can't build anything of significance.  What Coach Burton and the ladies proved is that you absolutely can with the right coach.  Just like McCasland did with an NCAA tourney win and NIT championship.  It can be done here!   You just have to have the right coach.

For years we were told that Jalie was the best we could ever wish for and that without her we would be in big trouble.  Same with Coach Pete and Tina Slinker before him.

There are some on the football board that say we should give coach more time and I don't disagree but you can't just allow coaches 3-4-5 years to prove themselves anymore.

We need to up our budget across the board, but particularly in basketball.

According to this article we spent $3.5m

And this older article had us ranked around 130

The problem is we are well bellow the AAC's average budget of $5.5m. For reference Memphis' budget is $13.7m and USF's is $4.9m.

Definitely agree with you and @NorthTexasWeLove will 100% agree with you.

One silver lining is look at what we have accomplished on a shoestring budget!

I mean, I do think you need to give coaches a bit of time to get things established, but in the day of endless transfers, the leash is definitely shorter.  Not that someone can't completely turn it around in Year 1 (Burton just did it), but I don't think it's necessarily realistic to expect going from the basement to a title at the snap of a finger.

And USF did it, too.  Definitely not the norm, but wild it happened twice this season in the same conference
