Umass to join MAC in all sports in 2025

I know nothing of UMass, but A10 to MAC in basketball is quite the steep drop. Seems like it'd almost be preferable to drop football entirely.

UMass AD seems to always be in a constant state of financial struggle.  Not sure how this move will help them.

UMass basketball has struggled for a few years.  They used to be like Big East quality.  Sorta like Georgetown, Temple, and DePaul.  Elite programs in the past, but not recently.

A10 today isn't the A10 of a decade ago or two decades ago. In the past 20 years they've lost Xavier, Temple, Charlotte, Butler, and now UMass.

Right, but they're still operating in the same range as MWC and AAC. MAC is closer to Big Sky or Horizon.
