GJ, maybe next time don’t blindside your proven starter that your fan base loves by bringing in a guy with, ahem, a questionable history.

From all accounts, is that really what led their QB to transfer out? If it is, what a terrible outcome.

Yes, Finley left because they brought in De Laura. Finley is now at WKU but when it was found out that De Laura settled a civil suit regarding a sexual assault, Texas State students planned a protest. Apparently he acknowledged guilt as part of the settlement although his attorneys have said that's not true. Regardless, all a big mess.

But wait… I thought Kinne and Texas State was the model to follow?

Not anymore.  The Texas State site is saying Kinne may be in trouble and lose his job based on what transpired.

Just like some of our fans are enamored with the $mut buy-a-P5-jersey model too.

Little more complicated than that. TJ Finley and his people were trying to auction him off to the highest bidder for a while and he was a very soft commitment to return to Texas State even after his announcement that he was coming back. Although that isn’t how he played it to the media.
GJ had to make other plans. I’m guessing that when everything settles and the transfer portal heats up again after Spring ball that Texas State will land another good QB.

Kinne is a cautionary tale when you overuse the portal. Same crap Dana did except he was smart enough not to bring guys who had sexual assault cases/allegations

Yeah Kinne seems like a flash in the pan, but who knows. Maybe he'll have long term success but we'll see. I like that Morris is still signing full HS classes on top of using the portal.

Texas State flew too close to the sun after their best season in years. de Laura's legal issues were public knowledge, and yet they pushed out their star QB for a QB who may not even be better than Finley, and he was in legal trouble. Nobody to blame but the coaching staff on this one, and it lies mainly on Kinne. What a shit show

Hell maybe they become Chandler Rogers sixth school if he doesn’t win the job at Cal.
