So, you want to complain about being left out of the CFP??...

NCAA penalizes FSU football, assistant gets 3-game ban for violations

The NCAA on Thursday announced significant penalties for the Florida State football team -- including two years' probation and disassociating with its NIL collective for one season -- for violating rules on using name, image and likeness offers as a recruiting inducement....

Those penalties mark the first time the NCAA has severed the relationship between a school and its NIL collective as part of an infractions case. It also is the first time that the NCAA has punished a school, coach or collective for using NIL as an inducement.

F$U is getting the $MU treatment from the NCAA (hitting the less relevant school with a violation every big school is doing), just by being associated with, or for trying to escape association with, $MU.

In all seriousness, how in the world does the NCAA come down on FSU and ignore schools like Tech, SMU and BYU, for example.  There is no reason SMU is getting the kids they are without talking salary.

It's not about the money, it's if you are technically following the rules, which we are.  Everyone knows a coach can't deliver a player to a booster. That's just sloppy.

Plus the player declared for the portal, visited FSU for an offer, then left the portal taking no NIL?  That's an obvious setup. Someone wanted to get FSU, set them up, then ratted them out.

My guess is retaliation for excessive tampering.

Hmmm…..If the NCAA checks out fellow ACC member (SMU) what NIL violations do you think they will find?

Trust this man. SMU has been cheating at the highest levels longer than most and knows how to skirt the system. 😈

None, at least not systemic in the program like that. There's specific do's and don't 's that you can follow to meet the LETTER of the rules.  The spirit of the rules are another matter, but also irrelevant.

I wonder if an ACC team set them up to torpedo their conference destruction dreams.

Yes, FSU has been very negative toward the CFP (understandably);  and the ACC for keeping them prisoner.   They obviously made someone mad.

The player was Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims. Entered the portal, got driven by an assistant coach to the NIL collective head, was offered $15,000 a month, left the portal, stayed at Georgia.

Poor lad was traumatized to be offered $180,000 a year. I hope he's recovered.

I am bombarded by pro-FSU messaging by being in Tallahassee so much, but my first reaction to this news was that it's a softer penalty than I would've expected for the infractions they committed. FSU self-reported and didn't get a hanging judge.

P.s. Not as soft as Michigan's in-season penalty of Jim Harbaugh sitting out a few games while his replacement cried giant blubbery tears after a game, which was weird since Harbaugh was suspended not dead.
