I know it's SMU but I was really hoping we wouldn't see the AAC champion get stomped by a 6-6 ACC school, especially after watching the number 2 AAC team in Tulane get beatdown by Virginia Tech 41-20. Last AAC team to play is Memphis vs Iowa State but things are not looking good for the conference to finish above .500 in bowl games this year.

Seeing SMU get stomped by a mid tier ACC school makes it all worth it though. Bought their way into that conference just for BC to give them a hard welcome

SMU will not compete in the ACC.  It’s going to be embarrassing for them

I think the roadmap is to not be competitive in the ACC until they can buy their way into non-competition in the B1G

The broadcasters have not been impressed with Iowa State's 3 man front and 8 in coverage. Been discussed a few times that Memphis has done a good job of finding the open guys within the 8 coverage guys.

Shout-out to Memphis at at least. Currently up against Iowa State 36-13 in the 3rd quarter. Iowa State has 19 carries for 0 total yards.

Memphis put up 36 despite missing a 31 yard field goal, an extra point, and a 2 point conversion that was to make-up for the missed point. In other words, 5 points left on the board just there. Was not an impressive defensive performance by Iowa State indicated by the 530 yards of offense put up by Memphis.

Btw we must remind ourselves that the teams playing in these bowl games aren’t the same teams that played the regular season, thanks to the portal.  That includes my comment above too. Bowl picks have gotten a lot harder.  Recently it used to be more about whose coach got fired but now it’s who still has their roster.  Crazy lineups and all that.  Still love it but gee dang!

I think the biggest slap in the face is the AAC Champion playing in the Fenway bowl, then losing to a 6-6 ACC team. Not a great look for our conference.

It was totally just a slap at $mut... for trying to impersonate a P5-ready program.  Obviously their $cam has now been seen and realized by all!

One of the comments specifically made by the radio commentators during SMU’s game is that they are one of the few teams where players DID NOT opt out of the bowl game…so, they took that ass whoopin’ straight up

Uhh... except their starting quarterback did not play. I know your deep obsession of smu runs deep, but that's a reach comment.

Moving up in conferences can be difficult. Houston, Cincy, UCF, and BYU all struggled. Also, except for UTSA, the newbies in the AAC did as well.

It took Utah 6 years to be competitive in the Pac-12, TCU needed three years in Big XII.

In the G5 it's all over the place. Schools that left Sun Belt for CUSA as a group won more first two years in CUSA than in Sun Belt. UTSA was immediately competitive. JMU, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Liberty all immediately competitive. Georgia State and WKU moving up got blasted.

It will be interesting to see how the new SEC and Big Ten teams do. TAMU did well, not win their division well but better than in Big XII well. Mizzou  won the east in second and third years.

He was hurt. The QB who played the AAC championship game is the same who played the bowl.

Or “P3” as the delusional SMU fans have begun to call it…not quite sure how that works

We lost, clearly, but it wasn't a whoopin', we were leading into the 4th quarter, and it was competitive by both sides throughout.

Not like, say, UNT vs bowl eligibility requirements, which was a straight whoopin'.
