That first AAC/ACC merger meeting gonna be wild. All the AAC schools just gonna be staring at SMU like this

SMU definitely has the Big 12 on speed dial right now, but the thought of them crawling back to the AAC is just too sweet. All that money couldn’t buy them a brain it seems

SMU will still be in the ACC but it will be a shell of the league they gave themselves up for. New ACC would be BC Syracuse SMU Pitt Wake Tulane Rice USF Memphis Georgia Tech UCONN UMASS 2 others.

They won’t come back to the AAC but other options include joining the SBC or giving CUSA a presence in the Metroplex again.

........this is still a substantial upgrade over AAC in every possible metric. How would that be a bad thing?

"SMU quit their job with us pushing carts at Target to go be a CEO, but then they found out the job is just being a VP.  Dur idiots!  They should have just kept pushing carts with us!"

Not quite the comparison.

"SMU quit their job with us pushing carts at Target to go be a VP at a bankrupt company and now they're about to be unemployed. They'll soon be pushing carts at Kroger."

ACC school will never get into the college playoffs because strength of schedule. With the 3 additions it has made the ACC weaker and more expensive to travel.. Let’s face it there is going to be a P3 or a Chip Kelley model. ACC will become AAC plus after having to raid the AAC, because of exits. SMU didn’t commit the $$$ for this kind of ending.

Is it really an upgrade when you Pay first-class price to join, but then still get seated in Business class?

This is an extreme take, especially with the 12 team playoff. If FSU, Clemson, and the other big programs succeed in leaving, the new ACC will likely compete with the AAC and MWC for whatever spot the non P3 conference champion will get.

Keep dreaming.

I would like to see SMU left out in the cold,  However, even without FSU and Clemson, the ACC would easily be the top G? conference unless it completely implodes.

SMU's dreams of being a P? however will be dashed though.

How long would it take them to make up $572 million dollars.

Word has been that a private equity firm is standing by to hand them the money in exchange for a percentage of revenue.

SMU is the rich kid nobody likes. They threw so much money at it that their new “friends” just couldn’t say no. They act like they like them to their face but talk about them behind their back. They are just the annoying kid who did nothing to earn their spot so Daddy bought it for them.

If the only other option was to get left at the airport, then yes, overpaying is the better choice.

AAC is getting left at the airport.  B12 and ACC might be on the plane, might not.  It's worth a shot

Exactly right. They weren't invited. They bought themselves in.
