Credit North Texas for landing Whitehouse (Texas) standout Gabe Stroud, a 5-foot-10, 180-pounder with explosive athleticism and multi-phase experience on defense and special teams. Stroud could potentially play corner, but we particularly like his play style at safety. He hits above his weight and his athleticism shines when tasked with defending space. Stroud, newly rated with a strong three-star 86 grade, made 36 tackles and picked off three passes this fall, adding one kickoff return TD. Stroud's on-field athleticism derives in part from his track and field profile, which includes a 10.79-second 100-meter rep; a 21-foot, 6-inch long jump; and reps in the 200 meters, 400 meters, triple jump, and multiple relays. Stroud's speed and instincts likely mean he could move around the secondary as needed. -- Brooks
