I watched the Furman at Montana FCS Quarterfinal game last night.  Both teams are regular FCS playoff schools.  Both had stout defenses overall.  It went to Overtime, final 35-28 Montana, mainly due to home crowd advantage.

But the glaring weakness on both was the QB play, specifically passing accuracy, or lack of.  I was shocked.  The Montana QB was 17/31 and the Furman QB only 16/47.

It made me appreciate what we had with Rogers.  Not only his accuracy but calmness and field demeanor.   I see the same lack of accuracy and confidence with many QB's in the NFL.  Just poor accuracy when under pressure or in general.

So, back to the Title question.  Should we value a QB or upgraded Defense as a priority this recruiting season??

As fans, our focus should be buying tickets, attending games, giving and setting our program up to compete.

Or our focus can be the same as every year…watching our team lose and wondering why someone else isn’t doing something about it

Morris is an air raid coach. His system is void without a good qb. Only way we can win is to score points with the kind of defense we have. I know defense wins championships, but we’re a whole lot further from a championship style defense than a championship style offense

Since when?

Jace retired, Earle & Rogers transfered, Freshman walkon transfered, other freshman didn't make it in, leaving JD Head I believe.

So, why are you here?  Looking for tickets or just solidifying tailgate menus?

Speaking of QB…I believe this is the dad of Ken Seals. He liked Ishmael Johnson’s tweet. 🤔🤔🤔

Seals is interested. UNT reached out to Ken on Tuesday after Rogers hit the portal. Ken text back after class but it’s been radio silence since. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s strange. Mutual interest with a talented DFW kid sounds like a great fit!  Thanks for the info.

So strange. Never got past a text message. Radio silence since and no phone call leads me to believe UNT isn’t interested. 😕

But guess who is… UTSA. 🤢I heard from Ken’s father this morning that UTSA coach called yesterday and is very interested. UTSA currently has an offer out to a different portal QB and if he doesn’t take the offer, they want Ken.

Damn, I hate to hear that. The staff must have a QB secretly committed and doesn't want to show their cards. Regardless, we need to get a transfer QB committed ASAP.

Maybe his  NIL price tag is a bit higher than what UNT wants to/can offer. Or, maybe they have a group of QBs in their cross hairs they’re keen on signing…if their price is affordable. We’ve been relegated to crumbs under the table. That hurts

You think utsa can afford a higher price tag?

I don’t think this has anything to do with price. Sorry, but Seals stats aren’t overwhelming and people are t jumping through hoops to sign him. It would be nice to have a local kid, but let’s see how this plays out.

That’s why I started with “maybe”. And, you’re right. The smoke hasn’t cleared yet. We are only at the first week of the portal, so there’s still some time.
